According to LJ abuse, no. You can't ban him, you can't delete his comments, and you can't do anything besides sit there and wait til he stops acting like a fuckwit because he doesn't violate the TOS for having 'an opinion' ~~Since when is posting horse dick considered an opinion?~~

	I'm...not completely sure. This is the first time I've heard a connection between fuckhead and the C&H feed being shut down because I never really noticed him there except for one time a couple of weeks ago. (Reply to this)(Parent)

Disclaimer: I stopped being current on lj_abuse policies around January, and even when I was active, I never handled syn stuff, because frankly I never managed to give a shit about feeds.

However, in the time I knew what was going on, and in all the relevant historical precedents I had to study before getting supporthelp privs in abuse, accounts weren't shut down for being the victim of spam or unwanted comments. When something like that got out of control in a comm, depending on circumstances, the abuse team would usually try to contact the comm maintainer and moderator(s) to make them aware of what was going on in the comm. If the maint or mod wrote back that they knew about it and were handling it, or knew about it and didn't care, that was that. If they said they didn't want the comm anymore, they were asked to transfer it to someone who did. If they didn't write back at all, the team would try to pick someone active and seemingly not-stupid to take over maintainership. (Policy link.)

In syn feeds, though, the problem's more complicated, because there are no maintainers or moderators of syn feeds. Recipe for disaster? Bingo. That means that there's no one to politely point in the direction of trouble. And the abuse team isn't in empowered or directed to (or at all interested in) moderating discussion or making sure everyone plays nice. It handles Terms of Service violations, TOS queries, and suicide notes. Not much else. As far as I know, posting nasty or annoying comments isn't currently a TOS violation, since it doesn't technically fulfill the definition of spam. (Policy link.) The policy probably needs improvement, but that's not up the the abuse team. Hopefully 6-Apart plans to spiff things up.

If a syn feed got shut down, it probably had something to do with ownership of the material being syndicated, or some other kind of dispute with a copyright holder or webmaster. That's a raw guess, though, since I don't think I ever handled one, and given the number of things that can go wrong on LiveJournal, purple monkeys from outer space could have been the reason.

	Basically, yeah. There's not a tool allowing anyone to do anything to kick trolls out of syns. I'd love to see syn feeds either modded in some fashion, or simply not allowing comments at all. (It would be almost as easy to set up a separate discussion comm.) The current situation's ridiculous. Not holding my breath for lj_dev to bow to my whims, though. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

I agree; this is just plain bullshit the way it is. You'd think that LJ would've thought the whole thing through before creating syn feeds, but sadly, that's not the case.

Though, really, what fucking IDIOT would let a loophole like that escape attention for so long? Fuckhead's not the first person to troll syn feeds and he'll hardly be the last.

	See, this is why I don't read the comments on my cartoon feeds. I had a look at the C&H one recently as there were over 400 comments so I automatically thought, 'ooh, wank!', and found everyone pretending it was the Garfield feed. I'm not at all surprised it's now vanished. (Reply to this)

	Uhhh...yeah. Except that schwarzer_tod (now refered to as 'fuckhead') was trolling the dilbert feed for a week before the C&H feed went down. Fuckhead's the reason I stopped reading two of my daily comic feeds (oh and the fact that he posted a BIG HORSE DICK picture on the feed and LJ abuse wouldn't DO A FUCKING THING doesn't hurt.)
