I <3 EQ2
Hi, it's Kalypsi! Thanks again to SuperTetris for posting this. ^^
Since the moment when the graphics for character models on EQ2 were released, people have been cranky about them. A while ago, Sony decided to give Korea the option of having a different set of models, which are referred to as the SOGA models, for the Asian EQ2 release. People have been yelling ever since. Moorgard has announced that the USA players will get the SOGA model option as well, so I expect the yelling to be constant for a while...
This is the most current thread. Here is the quick run-down:
Adoryn innocently posts a few shots from SOGA character creation screens. Everything is civil for nearly an entire page (wow!) We get the first small dose of crazy when Tuved2 comes along with his l33t banner and this:
They look like anime crap. I can't belive SOE feels they have to change their art to suit the asian market. FFXI didn't do that for the north american release.
Efour EQ2 posts a screenshot of a DBZ game to be funny and illustrate the impending destruction of EQ2, and writes this sentence:
yuck if i wanted to play final fantasy meets guildwars, the revenge I wouldnt be picking the eq2 universe in the first place make them optional downloads for the extreme western minority that actually want this cultural pollution if u guys at SOE think its a worth while bussiness plan. and sorry im not an american teenager, i dont like jap cartoons.
At about this point, people begin to point out that the SOGA models do not look like anime characters. Lunaya comes along with her ironically anime-like banner and adds:
If I want to play an anime-style-cheap-graphics-mmo I will play this Lineage 2 crap or something like that
Now that the anti-SOGA side has sufficiently made themselves look like idiots, the pro-SOGA side can’t do anything but compete for Top Idiot. Eiji writes this:

I think as this game draws nealry all of its content from European Myth and ledgend, amd should relfect that in it.

There seem to be lot of people that think onlt the younger people like the new model cause they are asian influeced and such ...
If you meen by younger a person more opened mind then yes i am younger ...
But im not a teen im an adult about to reach the 30th. (and if i spell wrong or my grammar suck, its cause im a french canadian)

Finally, for some added fun, Michael Chen, an EQ2EAST BETA player from Taiwan, comes in to say that he likes the USA models better, which was echoed in a previous thread that mentioned what the Asian players think of the models. What I wouldn’t give to be on the EQ2EAST boards…
