When did teenagers get to be so thin-skinned?
This is a stale, small wank found on [info]wank_report. But it's still wank, right?

Here we have Rigelian Culture, a Space Cases community.

A fan posts, suggesting that:

"...we should get every single caser from now and way back in the day and have them hand over their stuff, if they still have it. i think that we should make one giant webpage with all of it. one huge huge huge comprehensive space cases page. a giant monster mofo of a page."

An older fan, Jeff_morris, is a bit put off by her wording. In a fairly polite comment, he warns her that some fans might not want to "hand over their stuff". Yet he still links her to some of his SC stories.

In another polite comment, Jeff's wife "clarifies" his comment, telling the OP that what he meant was that it's great to link. Not so great to take. At least, in the case of his materials.

The OP replies informing her that "both of you could stand to be politer." ph34rthedrag0n agrees.

Jeff replies politely, explaining why he's defensive, also telling her that he didn't feel that the sentence he had an issue with was all that polite, either.

OP bans him from putting his stuff on her site. She continues making various comments about feeling "mean" now, insinuating that Jeff and his wife are Bad People for not "work[ing] together", and saying "i wouldn't want all of the other people to be as mean as the other guy and his wife who replied to this post."

Jeff continues his niceness and offers suggestions of better wording (okay, that might not be so nice) and places that will help with HTML editing.

The OP posts using great over-exaggeration and hyperbole about the incident.

I certainly didn't see anyone saying "nobody cares anymore" or "you can't use my stuff beeeeeeeeeeeeyotch."

Alas, it only lasts two paragraphs and she moves onto other things. People offer up their stuff in the comments.

Jeff posts about the whole thing here. Fairly amusing. Some choice bits:
Have them hand over their stuff? Excuse me? I had visions of catgirls showing up at my door with brass knuckles and blank CD's.

The Redhead took it one step further and told them in no uncertain terms that my stuff was off-limits for copying. Link to the page, if you must, but don't copy.

Well, that did it. We'd rained on their parade. We wuz MEEN. And impolite, don't forget impolite. And apparently anyone with an AOL website was very bad too.

Neadods: I'm surprised you haven't posted onlist that her tantrum boils down to: "I'm going to give you exactly what you demanded! SO THERE!"

There's a brief detour with that last quote to discuss archiving without permission being the next big pan-fandom kerfuffle.

A week or so later, he makes one more post about the whole thing. Apparently, his site is on a "Do you know who owns these SC sites?" list. After being told his stuff was banned. ;-) Alas, for I can't find a link to the list he speaks of.

Condensed Version:
Wank happens over a poorly worded archive-suggestion post. Older fan goes up against over-sensitive fan.

OP makes a whiny post exaggerating what happened.

Old fan posts in his LJ, doing a bit more "This is why I'm reacting this way" explanation and a wee bit of "Fanbrats are whiny!"

Old fan snerks about them wanting to include his stuff anyway. No link to the list and I can't find it.

Small, but amusing in a funny little way.
