Oh Suikoden Fandom, You May Be Small But You Wank BIG!
So it's more of the grudge-ranting that goes on with this bunch of RPG fans over in Fanficrants

This time, [info]swift_wind complains that a certain well liked fic just steals the game's plot and that s/h/it hates it when THAT happens.

Turns out the fic being ranted about was written by none other than [info]karthur who just brings the wank. Of course, [info]karthur's pals and readers rush to his rescue.

EDIT And what the fuck is up with this "authoress" shit?

After all the work people put into making occupations and such gender-neutral, it seems a little sad for the fangirls to need to be authoress(es?).

Though, I can't get over shoiryu's icon. It kind of looks like Obi-Wan is giving Anakin the seductive eye. You can't look away Anakin, as hard as you might try, you can not look away!

And I think those who have posted in her defense are being pretty polite about it, too, and they're all giving reasons for why they feel the rant is off-base, instead of just going "OMG UR WRONG."

So, uh, I kind of have to wonder about your motivations for posting this. Do you just have a poorly tuned wankdar?

As the author in question, first let me say that I respect your opinion. However, I would like to point out that the fanfic focuses more on the individual characters than it does on the war. Keep in mind that the motivation for the war in the fic is quite different, as are the motivations of all the key players.

Also, remember that Zexen is a war-faring country, with an army of knights at their disposal. And, although it's been said before, Suikoden is all about wars. I figured a novel length fic that features the Zexen Knights should remain in that vein.

So, thanks for your comments, but I disagree with your assessment of the story

I'd hardly consider that "bringing the wank". The OP is the one getting all pissy about it with her "I know the author is a member here but I don't care, cause I'm mad!!".

Okay, uhm, the first comments are all 'Yay wank!' and the rest are all replies to the rant. There are no long threads with people arguing back and forth that require me to click on the 'thread' button to read it all. There's hardly any arguing at all.

First of all, on what planet is Karthur's response wanky? I mean, come on here. "I respect your opinion" is a wanky response?

Secondly, in the game Zexen and Tinto are not at war. So this isn't stealing the plot of the game, and in all Suikoden stories there's a war and Runes involved, so it's not like *that* is something so horrible. This is the equivalent of bitching about the fact that in a fantasy novel there are dragons.

(BTW, I actually have read the fic in question. [During an insane period in which I attempted to read every fic in the Suikoden ff.net section: my sanity was permanently affected :P ] It didn't really grab me because I'm not that interested in reading the premise (not into post game Knights fic), but it is in no way a straight novelization of SIII.)
