FMA wank returns!

It starts on a community called [info]houseofsmex. If you're not familiar with it, you're probably better off, so I'll give the quick rundown. It's a shared-writing-universe comm, in which various authors write for a premise that involves five Fullmetal Alchemist characters -- you saw the name, didn't you? -- in a polygamous relationship.

Now, this goes past the "whatever floats your boat" stage, right through "whatever tips your oar," and all the way straight to the other side of "whatever keeps oxygen flowing to your brain in an aqueous environment, with or without gills," but hey, it's the internet. If it's not your cuppa, there's always the BACK button.

But not to the main players of this evening's wank: [info]fabricalchemist and [info]ninkasa.

No, these girls are not happy with [info]houseofsmex. In fact, they are so morally outraged by its very existance, with all perversions of characters involved, that [info]ninkasa goes to the trouble of writing a fic that firebombs the premise, and posts it to the comm. You can read the fic at the journal of [info]greatkingjames -- purportedly [info]fabricalchemist's boyfriend, and the one who made the anti-HOS banner in her her userinfo..

This fic does not go down well with the HOSers. A few are amused, most puzzled, but a few cut right to the quick and attack [info]ninkasa as a troll. [info]fabricalchemist immdiately jumps in to defend her friend, and accuses the flamers of being "lackeys" sent by the comm's founder, [info]icedark_elf.

After a bit the community creator comes on and sees the fic. She is a deeply upset, especially since (the plot thickens!) the two in question are real-life friends of hers! Why would they do such a thing if they know it would upset her? Could it be a plea for attention??

Meanwhile on the comm, flaming escalates. [info]icedark_elf posts and pleads for peace, and adds that she is not going to freeze or delete the fic in question. Several comm members are extremely indignant about this, since in their opinion, a troll is a troll and banning is the proper course of action. Reluctantly, [info]icedark_elf gives in and agrees.

A week passes when nothing happens, and all is quiet in troll-land. At this point, one of the other community mods steps in, and both of the posts related to the wank were deleted. (Yes, you were wondering why there were no links.) Apparently this is the signal of oppression that [info]ninkasa was looking for, because she shortly posts again to declare war on the community.

In the course of this post she protests that the fic was innocent and not in any way intended as harmful. Several of the community members call bullshit on that one. [info]fabricalchemist admits in her own LJ that yes, the fic was a deliberate act of trolling. Big surprise to nobody. (In the same post she scorns everyone at HOS for not having lives, then follows that up with an announcement of her intention to create sockpuppet LJs to continue the flaming campaign. Beautiful, isn't it?)

[info]greatkingjames chimes in in to defend [info]fabricalchemist, calling the HOSers a circle-jerk community. In what way this makes them different from most of the rest of the internet, he doesn't elaborate.

Meanwhile, the active mod [info]bard_linn banninates the three from the comm. This is an act of virulent oppression, of course.

Nevertheless, the war against moral perversity staggers on! In people's LJs, apparently, where the valiant [info]fabricalchemist appears to defend her cause against all those who seek to mock it. (She has a long journey ahead of her, folks.) There's a particularly involved wankfest [info]anax's LJ. Apparently it amuses anax enough that he starts another thread entirely devoted to a snark war between himself and the trolls, although alas, the guests of honor never show up for their party.

Waging wars of moral outrage is hard work! And here we get the best quote of the entire business: It's hard to argue with the illogical and fanatic. Boy, isn't that the truth!

So the night winds down to a close in troll-land. What exciting new business will happen next?
