B/A 4evah!!!
If you thought the Kittens and their Tara/Willow love were interesting . . . let me introduce y'all to The Ducks! This is a group dedicated to mourning the passing of that great supercouple, Buffy and Angel. You know, that fictional twosome with a nothing-close-to-healthy relationship who broke up four years ago? You, too, can reminisce about the good old days. Or discuss how present-day Buffy and present-day Angel would react to current plot lines and situations. Or vote on "Who would be the more hurt? If Buffy or Angel ever found out about the other's new love intrest." [sic]

There is a warning: "Dissenting opinions are allowed at Ducks' Babble Board. However, unsubstantiated insults toward the B/A Ship and or Shippers is [sic] not." So if you can substantiate your insults, that's okay? Hmmmm . . .

Happy quacking!

Yesss...and the Buffy/Angel fans got a whole bunch of people to donate money towards an ad in the Hollywood Reporter for "Angel/Buffy crossovers" and instead did an ad about Buffy & Angel's True Luuuuuuuuv!

They are brilliant. I wish I could get a heck of a bunch of people to donate money for an ad...

Yo, at this point? I would think wearing a claddaugh ring would make you embarrassed to wear a claddaugh ring. My SOs and I briefly discussed the idea of wearing them, but then we watched that episode where Angel gives Buffy one, and about halfway through his "eternal love" speech we all retched and dropped the idea entirely.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]embitca

Heh. That might be the case if I hadn't been wearing one since I was five years old, long before the existence of Buffy. Everyone in my family wears one.

Because Buffy screwing Spike in alleys and at the Bronze and everywhere else was so obviously about Buffy and Angel's one true love.

Well, duh, Buffy _obviously_ only went for Spike because he's a vampire sired by the Childe of her One True Love unless you go by original season 2 canon in which case Spike's a vampire sired BY her OTL which really makes screwing Spike just like screwing Angel who she can't screw anyway because if she did, he'd go evil and walk around in hot leather pants blabbing on and on about how he's going to torture and kill Buffy and all her friends but really all he'll do is get better fashion sense and make Spike jealous by screwing HIS One True Love and rubbing it in his face, unless you're a BDSM A/S slasher in which case he's chaining Spike up in the basement and screwing HIM while Dru watches and then with Angelus on the loose Willow would have to go all black-eyed and scary again in order to return Angel's soul but maybe she'd do it differently this time and take away the curse so that Angel is allowed to have a moment of perfect happiness without turning evil and wearing leather because the love of Buffy and Angel knows no boundaries and will go on and on for all eternity until Buffy dies at a young age in the line of duty just like every other Slayer ever has but their souls will still know no other match for all eternity! bUufee 4nD 44nG33LLL 4-Ev3RRRRR!!!1111!!1!!LOLOLOMGwtf!!!1!!11!! Breathe! Whew, you okay? I almost passed out trying to read that all in one breath.

heh, I originally said something else here, but realized it was stupid so... take two... 9_9

Anyway, try following the entire X-men universe thing from beginning to end particularly when you get to the Jean Grey, Maddie Pryor, Phoenix, yadda yadda yadda, then the different time line children of the different pairings that invariably always end up in the same time stream at some point not to mention when the entire universe goes bonkers and decides to flip flop and you end up with strays showing up in the real one once things are 'straightened back out'.

::takes a deep breath::

Trust me, you haven't lived till you've tried to map out X-men. It is like a soap opera on crack!

On crack, heroin and LSD. I've found it's best if you don't try to actually follow along, just nod and look at the pretty pictures.

I finally had to quit reading the books after Chris Claremont came back to writing them. I thought it would be better and no, we just got eighteen thousand NEW villains, eighteen thousand NEW characters that appeared for three issues and were never seen again, and... oh look! more recycling of storylines. Bleah.

Why does the phrase "the one who holds your heart" make me think of that ep where Angelus gave Dru a human heart as a present?

ANGEL: 'Cause I could see your heart. You held it before you for everyone to see. And I worried that it would be bruised or torn. And more than anything in my life I wanted to keep it safe... to warm it with my own.
BUFFY: That's beautiful. Or taken literally, incredibly gross.
***

I have no idea why I posted that. It seemed relevant.

~ "There was nobody getting over Buffy and Angel. Just nobody." Joss, on season 4 and the failure of B/R ~

Yeah, poor Riley, man. Most underappreciated nice guy in fandom. The characters all liked him, which is more than you can say for any of Buffy's other boyfriends, and yet the fans just couldn't realize that true love does not overcome all and IT NEVER WORKS OUT YOU SUCKERS!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!

That's what it's really all about. Sabatoging our god-given right to cling slipperily to the idea that first love is true love is forever. Screw you, Joss Whedon.

But really, if you're not reading the Spike-bashing, you're just not getting the full Ducks experience. That's where the real insanity is. Check out this thread (http://pub165.ezboard.com/ftheducksversefrm1.showMessageRange?topicID=3688.topic&start=1&stop=20) where they were trying to start a letter writing campaign to EW after they picked Buffy and Spike as one of "TV's Hottest Couples." Ah, the righteous anger just goes down so well in the morning.

I'm appalled that your magazine would promote such an unhealthy relationship that involved attempted rape, violence and abuse, let alone imply that the two characters involved are *soulmates*.

Yeah, cause Angel trying to kill her and end the world was just such a healthier relationship. Heh. I'm not sure what's more amusing. The attempt to turn a TV relationship into a social debate, or the fact that their real anger seems to be about EW daring to use the word "soulmates" for a couple other than B/A.

Feh! I think the abuse in the Buffy/Spike relationship is evidence that they are the One Twu Soulmates 4EVA!!!!111 I mean, you only hurt the one you love, right? Right???

*sheepish former B/A shipper*. Um, I wish I could deny all this, but like, I pretty much used to make the same comments from within, so... hypocritical.

Also, there used to be a 'Screw Men, Buffy needs a Vibrator' movement. Which never quite got off the ground enough to be interesting.

That wouldn't make them right - it would make them a mob of squawking two-year olds that Joss tosses a packet of chocolate biscuits to, to make them shut the fuck up.
