Bollywood splooge.
(Let's consider Bollywood a fandom.)

I noticed IMDb has suprisingly added a lot of info on a variety of Bollywood movies, which is really lovely to see. So I got to surfing and found out that East or West, IMDb wank is ...still kind of lame.

Karan Johar is teh ghey! (Hey, I liked the ambiguity in KHNH!)

Abhistek and Rani = CUUUUTE! No! Yes! No, SRK + Kajol uber alles! Yes, but I'll still always love Abhi... (Now I REALLY want to see Bunty Aur Babli.)

Shahrukh should STFU about Bush since he's not American! (Pfft. But check out the original post. Bollywood slash, anyone?)

That's all I got so far because I basically just got tired. If you find anything funny/wanky, feel free to link in comments.

Bollywood is OBVIOUSLY a fandom. I wish I knew more about it.

Beware of the bollywhat forum, it will CONSUME YOUR LIFE. I know from experience. And I love every minute of it ;)

I've seen so little BW films I don't dare join it yet. Are they friendly to newbies (hopeless newbies, who've seen less than a dozen films, that is)?

I think just as long as you don't make assumptions...their annoyance with an ill-informed Time journalist who made fun of Bollywood somewhat caused him to write a follow-up with an apology and a list of his favorite Bollywood movies. So, kabhi okay, kabhi wank, but YMMV.

Of course! They're always happy to have another Bollywood fan in the fold. We're a wealth of knowledge down there. I actually haven't been on in a while, but I'm under the id madhura_raga.

Personally my favourite source for Bollywood wank is talkbollywood.com

Would anybody care to try their hand at the Karisma Kapoor is getting a divorce (http://www.talkbollywood.com/index.php?showtopic=15272&st=240) topic.

Featuring such gems as:

If she loved her child, she would have aborted it

If Karisma actually thought about her child's welfare, she would have aborted the child instead of letting the child come into existence with a dysfunctional family that ceases to exist in an Indian society that typically frowns upon divorced women and offspring of divorced parents.

The taliban just had a bad rep because of the evil Western brainwashing

As for the "diabolical" Taliban, I am sure you did not know that there were more girls enrolled in the Afghani school system than boys during their rule and the Taliban also nearly annilated the landlords of the country who were promoting the fulsome institution of prostitution across the country. However, you were too brainwashed by the American media to appreciate any of their positive effects on Afghani society.

Hooray for Bollywank! I have contemplated posting some before, but alas...

P.S: I need to see Bunty aur Babli too. But at least I'm seeing Paheli tomorrow!

P.P.S: OMG SRK/SAK OTP 4EVAH!

OMG PAHELI IS TEH HOTASS. No, really. No, really. I was writing imaginary letters to Anupam Kher as head of Indian Censor Board, then throwing them away because SHAH RUKH. Even with the fakest mustache in the WORLD. Oh dear Lord. And I was too absorbed to be embarrassed to be watching it with my family! But GAH!

Ending's fucked up, though.

Also, SRK/SAK - theirloveissofrighteningtoGujjuelders!

BAB seems like such a wild, fun ride. And Paheli! SRK + moustasche is a must-see, definitely.

(Unfortunately I live in Bollywood-deprived Finland where they show like 2 BW films on a movie festival per year. And the DVD rental is plagued by pirate DVDs with no subs. Woe is me etc.)

SRK/SAK YIS.

Ahhhhh...I love when the arguments degrade into the darkness of each actor's skin. So marvelous! 'Cause, you know, it's not like Bipasha Bapu the allegedly dark actress is 109829030912384 times sexier than albino Kareena Kapoor...I just think Abhishek Bachchan looks a little dumb, sadly. Is he dark? Am I opening a can of worms here?

Also, Karan Johar = I want to see his talk show!

But at least his father had structure to his body, even as a gangly dude! Like in Sholay? Amar Akbar Anthony? Maybe since it's masala films it's different, but I'm like "whoo, pass me the Chivas Regal!" I dunno...I also haven't seen a lot of Abhishek films with him as the romantic lead, so I guess I'm still feh about it.
