Fanfic Rants wanks about Yaoi for the nth time!
spillbot wonders what world do some fangirls (specially yaoi ones) live on..
It includes some... special opinions about yaoi.
That's all yaoi is, after all, an expression of the loneliness, suffering, and crushing societal stranglehold of women. Women want relationships which are no longer predicated on gender roles. Because, these days, women are expected to be EVERYTHING. Good mothers, top executives in the workplace, Martha Stewarty housekeepers, thin and well groomed, and incredible lovers. The proliferation of yaoi fanfiction is merely an expression of how much modern women wish to escape from the suffocating responsibilities that our current world thrusts upon them. When women write yaoi, they are merely expressing their own suffering at being unable to maintain the perfection-of-women which society demands.
Women don't write yaoi because it is some beautiful, elegant artform... They write yaoi because it excites them. It excites them because society is breaking them. Society asks too much, and they can not cope with being women. The only escape is to live out their fantasies as men. Does this make yaoi WRONG? Hell no. The mere fact that it allows them such an escape is what makes it beautiful.
So, let's not kid ourselves about what yaoi is, and why it excites. Writing a fantasy scene is one thing. Living in a fantasy world about why you are writing it is completely another. Freedom is sexy. Escape from responsibility is sexy. Lying to oneself is just ignorant.
If it was about promoting relationships of all sorts, there would be more yuri. I reason this thusly: Women often tell me that "Well, I like boys, so if one boy is pretty, then two boys kissing is extra pretty." However, an ENORMOUS percentage of the women who tell me this are bisexual. Almost none of them write yuri. So, why doesn't it go "If one girl is pretty, then two girls kissing is extra pretty?" Either they aren't bisexual, or there is something more than just aesthetics behind the proliferation of yaoi.
This is bound to be wanky. And Sabine La Grande, Izzy Rose, and others prove me right.
Uh, me? I'm just there for the yaoi pr0n. Don't ask.
EDIT: Bah-lee-ted. But
korekara saved the basics. Find them (sans collapsed comments, of course) here:
