Fanfic Rants wanks about Yaoi for the nth time!
[info]spillbot wonders what world do some fangirls (specially yaoi ones) live on..

It includes some... special opinions about yaoi.

That's all yaoi is, after all, an expression of the loneliness, suffering, and crushing societal stranglehold of women. Women want relationships which are no longer predicated on gender roles. Because, these days, women are expected to be EVERYTHING. Good mothers, top executives in the workplace, Martha Stewarty housekeepers, thin and well groomed, and incredible lovers. The proliferation of yaoi fanfiction is merely an expression of how much modern women wish to escape from the suffocating responsibilities that our current world thrusts upon them. When women write yaoi, they are merely expressing their own suffering at being unable to maintain the perfection-of-women which society demands.

Women don't write yaoi because it is some beautiful, elegant artform... They write yaoi because it excites them. It excites them because society is breaking them. Society asks too much, and they can not cope with being women. The only escape is to live out their fantasies as men. Does this make yaoi WRONG? Hell no. The mere fact that it allows them such an escape is what makes it beautiful.

So, let's not kid ourselves about what yaoi is, and why it excites. Writing a fantasy scene is one thing. Living in a fantasy world about why you are writing it is completely another. Freedom is sexy. Escape from responsibility is sexy. Lying to oneself is just ignorant.

If it was about promoting relationships of all sorts, there would be more yuri. I reason this thusly: Women often tell me that "Well, I like boys, so if one boy is pretty, then two boys kissing is extra pretty." However, an ENORMOUS percentage of the women who tell me this are bisexual. Almost none of them write yuri. So, why doesn't it go "If one girl is pretty, then two girls kissing is extra pretty?" Either they aren't bisexual, or there is something more than just aesthetics behind the proliferation of yaoi.

This is bound to be wanky. And Sabine La Grande, Izzy Rose, and others prove me right.

Uh, me? I'm just there for the yaoi pr0n. Don't ask.

EDIT: Bah-lee-ted. But [info]korekara saved the basics. Find them (sans collapsed comments, of course) here:

I can feel his frustration, but I have a feeling this person would say I'm "living out my fantasy" as a "fangirl" because I'm looking to get FtM surgery...hehe...

And yes, I do think it's backlash to the f/f pr0n that straight guys enjoy. But two wrongs sure as hell doesn't make a right.

I only like one slash couple (Sirius/Remus) and one canonical yaoi couple (Dee/Ryo). I mostly write gen or het.
Does that mean that society needs to crush me more?

*raises hand*

There's not much yuri because it takes one hell of a writer to actually make reading f/f sex interesting.

I mean, when most people write it, it goes something like this: "Lick, lick, lick, lick, squeeze, lick, lick, suck, lick, fondle, lick, lick, lick..."

At least m/m sex has more variation, in that there are things to be inserted (many f/f writers haven't quite gotten to the advanced concepts of fingers or toys yet).

So... if a straight man likes lesbian porn because 2 women kissing is hot, that just reaffirms his manly heterosexuality.

If I like yaoi because 2 men kissing is hot, that means I'm lonely, oppressed by society, and bisexual.

Am I the only one who sees a HUGE difference between generalizing in fiction and generalizing IN REAL LIFE?

If someone generalizes in fiction, yea, it's irritating, but it's not real, so it shouldn't be as bothersome as making real life assumptions and statements about others.
