Yet ANOTHER shipper wank, because who doesn't like abusive!Harry?
oldmuggle posts an essay about Harry/Ginny occuring in canon.

Sadly, most of the shippy comments are done by anonymice, however, highlights include:
Is Hermione a doormat or not?
The OP is abusive to his partner!
Quotes from interviews that support...well, not a ship. Sorry dudes.

And, sadness of all, someone used an Andrew McMahon icon in there. Guys, he has cancer, hasn't he suffered enough, without you using him in a shipping war? The splooge never comes off.

Little at the moment, but it's been linked to by Daily Snitch so it could get quite a bit bigger.

Not even touching the wank for the moment but... the odd thing is, I think Hermione can act like a doormat, even despite the fact that she's supposedly the most conscientious one out of the HP books' golden trio.

If nothing else, I'll never stop being disgusted by that moment in OOTP where (after a Slytherin named Montague is brain damaged by Fred and George Weasley for being in Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad) she asks permission from Harry and Ron about helping him. After Harry assures her that he's actually quite happy to see Montague suffer (which, of course, assures me so much about his mental health) and Ron signals his indifference to the whole matter, she's quite happy to drop it. Way to stand up for the needy and suffering, Hermione! In this scene-- and in many of the parts in OOTP where she decides to trick the house elves to "help" them in a manner they wanted nothing to do with-- I really did loathe her and the imperialistic, I-know-what-you-need-better-than-you-do upper-class compassion she represents.

(But then, I think OOTP was the book where the the once-loveable and interesting (if often self-righteous and flawed) Hermione metamorphed into an extraordinarily bitchy author-avatar/insta-plot-device who is allowed to get away with bull-shit nobody else in the universe would get away with, sowhat do I know?)

The whole scene is down below-- thanks to Sister Magpie at LJ for typing it all up before.

To cap matters, Montague had still not recovered from his sojourn in the toilet; he remained confused and disorientated and his parents were to be observed one Tuesday morning striding up the front drive, looking extremely angry.

'Should we say something' said Hermione in a worried voice, pressing her cheek against the Charms window so that she could see Mr and Mrs Montague marching inside. 'About what happened to him? In case it helps Madam Pomfrey cure him?'

'Course not, he'll recover,’ said Ron indifferently.

'Anyway, more trouble for Umbridge, isn't it?' said Harry in a satisfied voice.

He and Ron both tapped the teacups they were supposed to be charming with their wands. Harry's spouted four very short legs that could not reach the desk and wriggled pointlessly in midair. Ron's grew four very thin spindly legs that hoisted the cup off the desk with great difficulty, trembled for a few seconds, then folded, causing the cup to crack into two.

"Reparo," said Hermione quickly, mending Ron's cup with a wave of her wand. 'That's all very well, but what if Montague's permanently injured?'

'Who cares?' said Ron irritably, while his teacup stood up drunkenly again, trembling violently at the knees. 'Montague shouldn’t have tried to take all those points from Gryffindor, should he? If you want to worry about anyone, Hermione, worry about me!'

'You?' she said, catching her teacup as it scampered happily away across the desk on four sturdy little willow-patterned legs, and replacing it in front of her. 'Why should I be worried about you?'

'When Mum's next letter finally gets through Umbridge's screening process,' said Ron bitterly, now holding his cup up while its frail legs tried feebly to support its weight, 'I'm going to be in deep trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if she's sent another Howler.'

'But--'

'It'll be my fault Fred and George left, you wait,' said Ron darkly.

after a while I just started chanting they were all insane in that book. And reminded myself that sometimes kids have really screwed up value systems.

Then went back to 'they're insane'.

You saw that as Hermione asking permission? I saw it as her trying to convince herself to do something she didn't really want to do (but thought she *should* do) by trying to get someone else to take the initiative. (Sorry, I'm not explaining well; I'm sleepy.) Still doesn't speak particularly well of her, but it's not doormat-ish in the least, IMO.

Oh man, WORD. Their thinking seems to be This guy took points from Gryffindor unfairly, so it's okay if he's permanently damaged! Those kids are on the slippery slope to the Dark Side, methinks. This would also be why I think Fred and George Weasley ought to be locked up, but that's a can of worms I'm not going to open.

Yeah, so the kid's brain-damaged. But shit, it's a magical world. Poppy probably waves her damn wand and the kid's IQ shoots back up to its standard 70, or gives him a drink to grow the brain cells back. Why should they be that worried? Magic cures practically everything. And Montague probably would have done the same thing to them and been just as casual about it.

Just to add to the non-wank wank.

I completley agree with you regarding Hermione. One of the reasons i'm nervous about HBP is because I'm afraid she's going to be as unbearable in that book as she was in OotP. Can't she ever just be WRONG about something? It's totally ridiculous.

Someday, in DotLand there will be essays about what people think. If the interpretations are interesting/new/insightful people can say so. If someone doesn't agree with a characterization, or an interpretation they can say so too, without bashing the author's not JKR, essay writer writing ability/ intelligence/ humanity/ ethos/ morality... [which ones did I leave out?]

Until then? We have [info]fandom_wank. Heeee

Maybe I'm reading too much into the essay, but it sounds like he's saying

1) All men are borderline abusive, and I should know because I'm a man.

2) But men won't abuse women if they're "strong enough."

From the OP, I believe:

The only female in this series that has shown the ability to control Harry Potter at his worst is Ginny Weasley.

What are McGonagall and Umbridge, bloody trolls? It's not even that they're adults because Harry doesn't even put up with Molly Weasley's shit half the time and she's the closest he's got to a mother, isn't she? I may be a H/Hr shipper, but this is just ridiculous.
