We mock because we care. Really.
I love this board, and I like a lot of the people on it. But it's become seriously wanky in a case of personal issues between a mod and a poster. I'll 'fess up that I participated a bit - I didn't feel it was fair to make a wank report without at least warning the board that the discussions are getting very wanky, and another retort I made was just after I woke up and before my first cup of coffee. (Never a time when I'm in the best of moods.) I'll be direct quoting here since although I'm linking to the forums and threads on the board, and they're viewable/usable by guests, I can't direct-link to exact posts in question.
It all started when Xei - otherwise known as Xee Metallium, formerly going by Zee Metallium -- joined the boards under her nickname, Xee, and posted an introduction message. (Xei changed her spelling to her current name after some kerfluffling.)
(The intro post is now gone; it was deleted, although older posts remained, it was just Xei's intro post that was gone, and then a bit later, a mod makes a post stating that all old introductions will be deleted to clear up room, and all the older ones, poof.)
There was a bunch of kerfluffling over not just her spelling of her username, which was similar to a moderator's, but one of the things that also wound up being wanked was the definition of "Zerasu No Mikage", and a huge disagreement between Xei and two of the mods broke out over the meaning. The third mod stepped in with the boomstick and basically ruled that the mods were right because they're mods.
Then just a few days ago, Mister M joins the boards, and the question of the definition of "Zerasu No Mikage" comes up again. Felicia chimes in with saying everyone else's definition of it is wrong, and her's is right: "Don't tell me I'm wrong here, either. I'm 100% sure I'm right".
ETA!!: I thought I included this link, but apparently not. Mister M's introduction post with the kerfluffling in question can be found here!
When I step in and say something about the way-over-the-top attitude she's pulling down, I get accused of attacking her when she's not there to defend herself. "You people wear on my nerves, especially when BOTH OF YOU SNAP AT ME WHEN I'M NOT HERE TO DEFEND MYSELF. At least I do it to your face." (I didn't realize that making a post on a message board regarding someone's behavior required them to be actively present on the board at the exact same time, apparently.)
Elsewhere in Pine Valley on the boards, a discussion on the meaning of the Mazoku crest crops up. Again, Xei has an opinion: "I actually took a runic chart to the hierarchy [...] they just translated out into their katakana names", which Felicia vehemently disagrees with: "You can't translate runes meaning like your saying you are. You know that, right?...Or are you just trying to impress me, because I a l337 Occultist? :P", and one thing leads to another, resulting in Xei saying on the next page "I know I don't have any need to impress a girl at least 5 years my junior at least 7000 miles away and still beleives in the concept of being 1337.".
At this point, Zee steps in putting the smack down on Xei: "Five years your junior she may be, but she is a mod here and you are not. Please refrain from insulting and/or trying to appear superior to the admins/mods. Also, since Felicia is right and you can't translate runes into any sort of romanized alphabet, you DO look like a poser who's trying to act "cool." I'll certainly give you the benefit of a doubt and say you just made a mistake or this is a misunderstanding and you're NOT actually any sort of poser, but when my staff is attacked, I defend. Rule #1, people. Be nice. And if you have a problem with ANYONE, staff included, you come to me or another mod/admin. That's...what? Rule #2? It's one of the rules, so obey it."
When Xei responds with: "No offense but I live in Europe (where the runic Futhark alphabet originated!!!) and runes do indeed translate both ways." and even provides a link for reference on what she's talking about.
Zee's had enough: "[your claims are] RIDICULOUS, as well as a blatent lie. ALSO, the fact that you live in Europe means jack about how well you know runic alphabet. I have relatives in Europe who know less than I do. So, here's the gist of this post: You are attempting, pitifully, to make yourself look cool, and when you are called out on the fact that you are spouting bullshit and we know it, you attempt to defend yourself by belittling the staff and using your supposed age, location and occupation as a way to do so. I have doubts that you are in your 20s. I have doubts that you live in Europe."
By this time, I'm checking the boards and just blinking at the tinhattery and wankery going on, and tell them as much, basically translating into "Can't we all just get along?" (Hey, I had to at least try before I reported the wankfest, and so far, nobody's replied to that, the end? We'll see.)
Meanwhile, I'm venting about it over in my JournalFen, and schoenschoen takes a look and convinces me to get off my arse and report the wank.
Is it over? Will Xei get banned? Will the mods calm down? Will the Runic Alphabet determine the fate of the world and whether we all live or die? Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of As The Wank Turns!

This was provided by Tasuki. Since none of them have an account on JF, I felt it was only fair to provide the other information. (Yes, there wasn't anything personal, and I do like them. It was just wankery.)
I understand that the post was made before the incident was resolved but I can't help but want to clear a couple things up, just for the record. First of all, Xei PMed me and asked me to remove her introduction post. This was well before any mischeif broke out across the forum and seeing as her intro post was really old, I figured that it'd be alright. She said people were asking her about it and I didn't see any harm in deleting it. So I did. Unfortunately, I see that as being a mistake right now, but.. que sera sera. Her introduction post was also deleted well before I decided that I would be pruning the introduction forum. Mazoku.org was running low on space so I took it upon myself to tidy up the board a bit by deleting some users who hadn't posted anything in well over a month and had less than 10 posts, and by deleting introduction posts because most of the introductions made aren't really important in the bigger picture.
Second, I just want to point out about the entire rune thing: Zee wasn't trying to say that the runes couldn't be translated into anything at all. She was saying that they can't be translated directly into katakana, which is what Xei said she did. Japanese is a strictly syllabic language, where all sounds are comprised of a consanent and a vowel. ka, ke, ko, ki, ku, for example. "ng" can't be translated at all into katakana for that reason, nor can th, etc. I think that point was seriously over-looked when reading the argument and that's why Zee was getting so frustrated. Xei claimed that the runes translated into names, and as we can see from even Xei's "proof," they don't translate into such. ^^; She would have posted a reply to your post in the fandom_wank community, but anonymous posting isn't allowed and she doesn't have an account there.
