After watching people go into fits for the last few days, I've reached my tolerance limit of bitching about HP procedure within the bookstore.

Oh, a kid at a release event for a kid's book, getting a special treat. Clearly, the gods designed that sort of horror specifically for people on cf_hardcore to bitch about, just like kids in such inappropriate venues as public transit, and Wal-Mart, and anyplace outside of their little soundproof sterile pods in general.

She could have been wearing a costume hand-sewn by JKR herself, and strangely enough, a kid would still win the Most High and Holy Honour of opening the box of a book marketed at kids at an event for kids.

Why is it that the most venomously CF people all appear to have the mental age of a spoiled toddler? I know there are sane ones out there, there must be, but there appears to be some sort of correlation - the more violently you hate kids, the more you appear to be one.

I haven't got the book yet, and probably won't for a while. My philosophy is that if you don't want to wait around in the company of children for the book, go and get it when the place isn't so crowded. People who get it on Monday will have the pleasure of knowing all the kiddywinks are in school when they nip out to WHSmith. I suppose the people who are desparate not to be spoiled might be distressed at the thought of having to avoid livejournal for a whole weekend, but it's not worth wanking over.

I'm going to assume that from her interests (being Kerry/his running mate slash -- it's John something) that she's American.

By the time she had gotten her nerdy little hands on the book, I had already read it, spoiled it to everyone I knew, giggled about the ships with a friend and was halfway through my first draft of a Draco/Kreacher story.

I love getting the book released at the same time as the Brits get it.

My best friend is CF and, thankfully, she understands that she was once a child and children are OMFG immature. She does remember a time when she was at that place and understands that she doesn't want the responsibility of having children. It's not hatred on her behalf, it's the responsibility.

I guess the whining "crotchdropping" doesn't get the fact that JKR is also a crotchdropper who is writing a story for other crotchdropping. Maybe someone should just not exist being that their mother was a "Moo" and a "crotchdropper".

Is Little Miss Serenity Andariel Arwen Moonchild unaware the series to which she is so devoted actually features, well, children? 11-16 year old children, to be sure, but hello? And also, written for children? By a woman who, OMG!, actually seems to have children of her own?

I'm so glad I just ordered my book off Amazon and am simply quietly waiting for it to be delivered instead of wading through the crazy at the midnight parties.

I do agree with her on one point--it's obnoxious to have a twinkly little kid win just because they're 'cute'. A little kid could have a good costume too, and it doesn't sound like this one did, it sounded like she won simply because she was widdle and small and stuff.

I think she needs her eyes poked out with a wand. I can understand being frustrated at not "winning," and being miffed at the person who did, and yes, the kid probably did get chosen simply because she was a kid. But that does not deserve verbal threats of physical violence and seething rage.

Yes, kids get special treatment sometimes, because they're samll and it makes them feel special. Yes, adults also like to get special treatment, but we should know how to deal with it when we don't get our own way. It's called maturity. Of course, I'm a childlover and a potential breeder, so what would I know.

The release parties were all full of craziness like that. Although what I had to deal with was this brat boy, preteen or maybe 13 or 14, asking us if he could have the DRY ICE we were using to make our cauldron smoke. Over and over and over again. He asked every single employee and volunteer in the store at least 5 times, each time trying to add an incentive like "I'll pay you five bucks."

CF wank. Check. (disclaimer: sorry, but since a majority of the OP's post was spent squealing slurs at a child and mother who did little more than show up for an event that was likely more geared for a child anywho, there is cf wank there. And no, I'm not indicting the whole cf comm - I have some good friends who are cf, so I'm fine with the concept yet amused by the wank when it happens. k?)

Here's an idea for the OP. Wear capes less and grow up more.

Overall, best Potter wank ever. And I'm not even a fan.

I may get roasted for this, but I'd really like clarification.

I don't care if someone has kids. I think too many people have them that shouldn't be parents at all. I also do LIKE kids, I was one for a good part of my life and being only 23, I don't mind being called "kid" even now.

I also don't get the huge amount of persecution that is claimed in CF. Could part of it be reactionary? When you act insulted when someone asks an honest question of course they are going to react accordingly. I waffle between "We don't know" and "No we don't want them" when asked about kids and I've never been treated like this horrible satanic creature by ANYONE. EVER. No one holds the YOU MUST BREED mallet over my head.

However, I HAVE gotten screamed at for the audacity of liking children, the idea of having then and how they will "ruin my life" I suppose I just don't get it. Have kids, don't, I don't care as long as you aren't a retarded jack ass who beats the poor child because you are afraid it may be gay or starve your three year old under the misconception that it can feed itself and is a little adult and not, in fact, a CHILD.

This person is immature and a child. No matter how old they are. Maybe thy should request an adult Harry Potter party in the midnight hours and have a child party on Sunday afternoon?
