Symbolic Flight: Part Two
A little late, but better late than never.

Like a bad horror film, [info]ginny_weasley's Symbolic Flight essay spawns a crappy sequel.

It generates six pages of comments: 1 2 3 4 5 6

Part Two != sequel, Part Two = LJ Post Length Limit.

...or so I'd think.

This little mouse would like to say that it loves your icon. Daily Show, perhaps?

Well, logic is not strong with this one, but I don't really get the wank. And I didn't read all the comments, but they seemed pretty polite and reasonable. . .

Well, some (like, one or two) H/Hr shippers showed up and got mildly wanky, and ginny_weasley got pretty bitchy to anyone who didn't give her glowing praise, even if they basically agreed with her.

But you're right, MOST of the comments were polite and reasonable.

*blink* I think that the HP fandom is driving me away from HP itself. I just realized that I have absolutely no desire to read HBP.

Not that that's going to stop me.

But still.

I am actually pleasantly surprised, it is a decent bordering on good book, far better then the stinker that OotP was and a good lot better then GoF too.

I'm kind of WTF-ing over the whole thing. Yeah, I once wrote an essay on the stomp as an effect in giant robot anime, but this borders on...why? None of this is canon, and the comments back even make it worse. It's like being stuck in a state senate: Nothing of importance actually happens when it's supposed to, and there's lots of meaningless talking, yelling, and baiting. (Of course, this may just be in Alabama.)

Then again, the splooge might be invading my brain.

PS: I so want an icon that says: "The Harmonians want your BRAIN!"

Also, any kind soul who can pass on a code would rock. I really need icons for these posts...

Well, make that "Nothing of importance actually happens EVER," and you've got the California state senate covered.

They've got account creation turned off, for the most part, but occasionally turn it back on again for a few hours at a time. So your choices are, unless soemthing's happened I don't know about, to check [info]system often to see when those times show up and get a free account, to get someone with a paid account to sponsor you and ask for them to create a free account for you, or to pony up $15 and buy a paid account.

I'd just love to know what essay the person who said I think all HP fans should look to this essay as a stellar example of how to constructively defend a thesis using textual evidence, and I hope more fandom members will follow suit in the futurewas reading, 'cause it sure as hell wasn't this one.

Having read HBP, I'm wondering if she's going to be doing some major editing of this essay. Or delete it entirely.

Well given that Harry and Ginny were actually an item . . . for a chapter . . . or two . . . she could feel perfectly vindicated, especially since Ron and Hermione are still together.

I predict a gloating to follow.

Well I was going to say, "Wow, it seems like such a waste of server space now." But then, wasn't it in the first place? Can something of almost 0 worth actually be made less worthwhile? It seems kind of like trying to find the square root of infinity.

"When a man describes a woman in ways that equate her to a cat, he is certainly not her brother."

That might be my favorite. My brother, as well as a guy I've grown up with and consider my brother, have both described me in cat-like ways. OMG HOW SICK ALSKDAJLDAK ... or maybe this girl has way too much time on her hands and is looking for canonical evidence that DOES NOT EXIST.

I still thought the essay was fucking funny. I just like to poke fun at H/Hrs. And overly serious R/Hr's, too.
