Wank in the making?
Yeah, this is pretty spoilertastic for HBP So, it's behind a cut.

So, on the [Bad username: =_blaise_zabini], [info]kitsune_blaze makes this post, which states: I just got HBP and I nearly cried. My mental picture of our dear Blaise is shattered. I guess I'll make do with the pieces. *tear*

This, of course, is referring to the fact that Blaise Zabini, that enigmatic wank magnet, has been described as black. Let's forget how he seems to be almost everything the fandom has portrayed him as, an snarky pretty boy, because he's black, and our precious image of him as a pale emo boi!!1!11 is SHATTERED! /sarcasm.

The first set of replies is pure comedy--headache-inducing, but never-the-less funny because these people are morons, and I can only hope for more wank to fly. :D

Well, I was surprised, I imagined him as a swarthy Italian fella with curly hair, pouty lips and a small rat tail. But canon-Zabini sounds really, really hot.

I think it's utterly pathetic that being black means that Blaise can no longer be considered goodlooking in the minds of these people.

Given what occurs in HBP, this was the last thing I expected to see wank about. Jeez, JKR finally gives us a non-stereotypical Slytherin student and all people can do is whine about how he's the wrong colour. Bite me, morons. And I agree with the above mouse, canon-Zabini sounds delicious.

You know, I can understand preferring the fandom version of a character, because a) it's probably pleasing to the person preferring it, or why would she prefer it? and b) there wasn't much information about Blaise before. But being devastated that the canon says something different, when you were building a character in fandom all along?

I mean, come on. Even if Rowling did decide to give her fans what they wanted, how on earth could she satisfy everyone? The fandom's too damn huge. If she'd made Blaise white, there'd still have been someone somewhere who was disappointed that he didn't match her vision of the character. Please to keep canon and fandom separate enough in your heads to realize that they're just not going to match, and that's fine.

I was a bit thrown when I first read about it, and haven't gotten that far in the book yet. I'll admit I've jokingly WTF'd, but hell. The Blaise I RP is Irish, this means nothing other than finding someone who's not the guy from Snatch. ;)
