I'm sorry, I just can't wait for it.

The Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet have posted the second part of their exclusive interview with J.K. Rowling, in which Mrs. Rowling sinks the Harry/Hermione ship for good.

Naturally, the fandom implodes.

At the moment, posts of the 'goodbye-cruel-fandom' and 'I've-lost-faith-in-love' varieties are happening behind lock and key on closed boards and behind friendslock, but it is only a matter of time until we see them out in the open. Also happening a lot are 'JK-Rowling-is-a-cruel-and-evil-bitch-with-no-writing-talent-whatsoever' posts (but they've been saying that shit for ages, so that's nothing new). You can try the friendslist of the H/Hr livejournal community - stuff is beginning to crop up in public. Another good bet is the friendslist of the newly made hbp_wtf community.

I'm waiting for the death threats aimed at the interviewers. And of course, there's talks of letter campaigns.

So, sit back! Relax! Make popcorn!

This one's gonna be big.

In a few days, when I've calmed down sufficiently, I will be writing a letter to J.K. Rowling, apologizing for daring to believe she was writing a story of depth and resonance that would have gone down in history next to other great classics.

I'm grateful that Dan Radcliffe was introduced to the greater world, though. Wonder when they'll be releasing December Boys?

Y'know, I have H/Hr shippers on my LJ f-list. There is indeed proof that some of them can be sane.

But when someone becomes this invested in canon, this convinced of a "perfect love story," this convinced that the author meant to trap or lead them on because they wound up with a different interpretation of the text...

It wouldn't matter if JKR had decided to make H/Hr canon. Then it'd be the delusional shippers on the other side wanking. I think most of the delusional, death-threatening ones have this weird idea that we're mocking them for their particular ship, rather than for their behavior.

Ah, well. Why am I thinking so much, anyway? (Probably because I just read one pro-R/Hr post on my f-list right atop a pro-H/Hr one, and both were just as convinced of their rightness. It's a mad, mad world. )

While I agree that a lot of H/Hr shippers are acting insane over HBP and the recent interview how can Emerson not be seen as a total wank?
I think JK handled his immaturity nicely, and yes she laughed but I honestly think she was just doing it out of fun. She wasn't being malicious.

My god. After reading hbp_wtf's friendlist, I have come to the conclusion that the Harry Potter fandom is better off without all those people, and if they do stick to their guns and leave 4-eva, then it can only be a good thing.

Sheesh. I don't ship one way or the other (I did see Ron and Hermione happening since the second book, but because I read the clues and the way the author was setting them up, it was obvious. I'm so immature. I'm reading the the_it_ship's friendslist, and this made me giggle:
I fucking hate you right now, JKR. How much more insensitive can you get? Leading us on for years and the shoving us all down the toilet, laughing. I don't believe it.

Something about the idea of JKR cramming Harmonians in a toilet and bouncing up and down on their heads, laughing maniacally, is just hilarious.

(Also, I completely fail to understand the "She led us on!" thing. I thought the CoS DVD was very unsubtle in saying JKR had told the screenwriter to make the impending R/Hr clear with the awkward reunion thing.)

For those of you who don't know, in light of recent events, a group of people have gathered together and formed a Yahoo group called "Project Harmony." This is a group dedicated to the collection of Harry/Hermione fanfiction, fanart, essays, reviews, as well as the long term goal of writing our own version of book 6.

Wow! I thought all the wank was over when they read HBP. But somehow -- despite H/G and R/Hr and no H/Hr -- they still thought it was going to happen? And only when JKR explicitly said no did they get it?

There's nothing wrong with H/Hr. As a ship, I like it fine. But it was incredibly obvious from way back that R/Hr was going to be canon and H/Hr was not.

Not delusional for liking H/Hr. But for expecting it? Absolutely delusional.

... Though much, much less delusional than that girl who was convinced D/Hr was going to be canon (and OMGI'mleavingfandom!!1!).

I'm boggling at the fact that a lot of the H/Hr shippers seem to think JKR herself called them delusional. The way I read it, that was totally Emerson and JKR denied it.

Okay, it wasn't a *strong* denial, but it was a denial nonetheless.

Emerson's a dink, no doubt about it. But isn't he also a known R/Hr shipper? Did anyone really expect anything else from him?
