Hey, y'all.

Just a few modly announcements.


Some of you may have noticed this by now, but we've been going around notifying people that we're gonna start cracking down on non-work-safe icons. Work safe here is being defined as no exposed genitalia or nipples, or giant curse words. Or overtly sexual situations.

None of that pg, pg-13, nc-17 crap because that is so debatable. Please follow our guidelines. You're allowed to use your nws icons everywhere else on journalfen. Excepting, of course, communities that specifically ban them like us and we'd really appreciate it if you just remember what keyword triggers what when you comment. We don't want to, but we will crack down on you, kay? Thank you.

Second announcement: YOU CAN NOW CONTACT THE MODS (not that you couldn't before, but now you have an email address) so go check out the fandom wank userinfo to get our email as well as finding out Apoplexia's sexual history.


And our final announcement, Hugsnkisses is back. The day right after I finally give up and put her in the missing in action column. Why? Because she sucks.

*shrug* Some people do when they get a free moment. Especially during those times when we have a particularly popular or fast-growing wank. Personally, NWS icons don't bother me, but lots of people operate in an environment where graphic images popping up on the screen and network are not desirable.

Also, there are many f_w members with small children running around who don't want to have to answer the question of "Mommy, what is that man doing to that squid?"

That doesn't work across the board (I've tried it), plus it cuts out every web site that uses a graphic-based nagivation system (which is a hell of a lot of them).

Much simpler if people just follow the rules. What a concept!

I do. Where I am right now, no one cares if we surf between masking yet another set of photos for a DVD project, but they'd rather not have porny images being involved in the surfing.

My job is basically to occupy my mind while waiting for the rare person to come up to my desk and ask for help. So, I spend a lot of time surfing various sites, including JournalFen. I like having a little cubicle where almost nobody sees what I look at, heh.

This mouse's computer is routed through her papa's work. It makes her internets free and happy. but it means that, even at home, NWS stuff can get her in trouble.
And her dad fired.
That's why it's not cool.

My computer actually is routed through my parents'. If they saw half the icons, we'd have the "Are you a lesbian" talk again, and there really isn't a way to reply to "It's okay, if you were gay" without sounding like that song from Avenue Q.

Those must be akward conversations.

I have them on a regular basis with coworkers. That is, they keep telling me it's Okay if I'm a lesbian, as long as I tell them.

I keep asking how this is relevant to my ability to add.

And this is the second workplace in a row where people have started asking me questions about it. In the last one it was all "I mean, I'm okay with gay people and stuff, but I've never met a lesbian, so are you one?"

Again, and what does this have to do with my ability to add? *sigh*

Well I know for me, I work an all-night job in a computer lab, so pretty much ALL I do all night is surf the intarwebs (among them FW). And while obviously my employers don't have a problem with that, I could definitely get fired if they caught sight of a NWS icon or sommat.

Obviously people browse at work. But if you get caught I don't see how that's the internet's fault, since you SHOULD be working- or if it's a break, if your boss/company is uptight, why are you risking getting in trouble so you can see the latest OMG HARRER POTTY controversy at your work place?

That to me is less "let's be courteous!" and more "why are you people so damn stupid?"

But I'm not a mod. And I am but a wee, humble mouse.
