This reminds me of a horrid book people in my writing workshop were talking about last year. Or was it FW? Anyway, it was this horrible Mary Sue story, and the cover... oh god, the cover. Orlando Bloom as Legolas with 'shopped in fangs and 'shopped brown hair. Beautiful. I wish I could remember who wrote it or what it was called.

[info]fanficrants is going to have to froth about a lot more than just this woman's work, if their bar for "prosecutable rip-off" is that low. Read the "Book Legend".

Some obvious "inspiration" from Inuyasha (the cold guy with white hair, gold eyes, and yellow sash? yeah), but the rest of the "Book Legend" reads like generic anime mush sprinkled with a bit of Fushigi Yuugi.

There must be something I'm missing. Has she read the book or seen the fic it was before this woman decided to sell it?

*facepalm*

I can think of several internet authors who deserve to be published, whether they're writing fanfiction or no. They're just that good. Amy Blankenship is not among them.

Not only are the book names terrible and the covers comprised of weird-looking fanart, but ye gods, the writing. It burns! It burns! Her site is over here (http://www.animedefiance.com/book/). :(

For the past year, she has gazed upon the world of the unknown, and was able to grasp things many never could, and enlightens the world with what she finds till this day. Little by little, she lifts spirits with her eye-catching tales, and mind-boggling plots only she could imagine.

Ya know, I'm kinda happy she's so egotistic got so much confidence in herself. Admirable trait.

From a Preview:

The father of the five siblings, Tadamichi, was first in line to take his father’s place as ruler of the demon world and head guardian of the seal of time.

Think you could make that a bit more garbled? And if it is the "Youkai Realm" then how the hell the hell could it be a 1000 years before modern day? Last I check this was still earth.

Oh and lets not forget:
She did not want to lose to this youkai turned demon.

Just ugh.

P.S. You couldn't have picked a less catchy name then "Guardian Heart Crystal"?

*snickers* Not so much illegal as just daft; if it was that bad in the first place, it's likely it bore much resemblence to the work(s) they're claiming she's ripping off.

I see Authorhouse is popular among the fanfiction-writers-turned-vanity-writers these days - isn't that what Adele used?

This is the good crazy, though.

1. The cover art looks like fanart. In fact, it's not even good fanart. o.O
2. I didn't even bother to read the preview, since, the first word made me stop. If there's one thing you don't do when writing, it's use 5 exclamation marks. One is quite adequate.
3. About the Author: Look at her e-mail. (http://www.authorhouse.com/BookStore/ItemDetail~bookid~30062.aspx)
4. If you're going to use a story that isn't yours, and rename the characters, don't rename them random Japanese names and/or words: Be creative.
