So apparently, a co-founder of DeviantArt apparently got forced to resign, and it's causing a bit of an uproar.

Here it's some of it.

The more Im reading, the more Im going WTF!! How can you kick (or force) someone out of their own website administration?? It's like if someone came to my dad and told him "get off the administration, we dont want you here" when he's the one who spend all his weekend on it.

I mean, arg!!

It pisses me off too.

I don't even know the guy, but getting fired without so much as a fucking explanation from a company you created and maintained for five years is just insulting as hell.

... Large companies who brought out smaller companies do it when the current management is causing them to lose money. I have no idea what's going on at DA, but getting fired from your own company is not unheard of.

maybe, but this one wasn't bought, was it?

and it's more than just a manager, the guy created (with the help of two other person) the website. It would be like, you create an amazing website, then some punk that got in the power (for some reasons) kicks you out of the administration.

As I said, I have no idea what's going on with DA.

Getting brought out was one of the examples how the boss can get fired from his own company. It happens more times than you think in RL, so getting pissed off for a complete stranger won't help.

Business practices aside, I think the most insulting thing is the way they fired him. Talk about the walk of shame >,<

In my defense, I'll say that I'm more mad about the fact of firing someone from their own company/creation and not so mad about that fact that it's "him" in particular that got fired.

The dA admin, basied on my experience...well, a majority of them didn't do much except webdesign (with great mediocrity - excuse me, guys, can we please check to see if our designs work in browsers other than MSIE? and ensure that they are not so full of das blinkenlights that they make my mum and dad's brand new borgbox CHUG!?) and circlejerk, and whine about having to deal with user-related issues.

Good goin'.

Some of them are decent folk; alas, the asshats drown them out.

das blinkenlights?
(oh and btw DA's site design totally fails it in OS X's IE. But then IE fails it in general *smirk*)

Well, technically blinkenlights ate nifty LED thingiees, but I've oft heard 'das blinkenlights' used to refer to useless bells and whistles on a subpar webpage, or a webpage that's supposed to look slick and professional, but is actually quite b0rked.

A user made some political art (http://www.deviantart.com/view/21169090/) for jark, the co-founder who was fired.

Well, um, that's because it doesn't exist on JF. ;) You'd need an account here. Or for JF to get OpenID, but who knows when that will happen...

Well, I wonder why it says "LiveJournal user" as a sign-in option, then. If it can't use OpenID or LJ, then shouldn't it say "JournalFen user?"
