A Harry/Ginny fansite, the oddly-titled Sink Into Your Eyes* (or SIYE), has instituted an "obscenity ban", which somehow has to do with JKR's agents and Janet Jackson's breast. Yeah, I don't know, either.

LaFeeMechante, aka ginny_weasley, receives an e-mail from one of the site maintainers, Lord Somethingorother, that contains pointless emoticons and plenty of condescension :). Ginny_weasley is not happy. Cue petition.

Keep repeating after me...one more book. Just one.

We can say 'one more book' as much as we want. But there's still two years until the seventh book and about 4 until all the damned movies are made. And then sequels will be demanded and ten years downt eh line the movies will be remade because the graphics will be better and the effects will be brighter.

Harry Potter's the real nasty scab of Fandom Wank that we keep picking at even though we know it's going to leave a shiny white scar.

Eeeehhhh... the email wasn't exactly the politest ever sent, but if the site wants to crack down on obscenity then that's their own choice. There are plenty of other archives where people can keep their fanfiction, or they can even make their own.

Dude, if the site doesn't want fics with obscene language that's there perogative, but that doesn't make anything that uses the f-bomb ever is a horribly written piece of trash.

However, the wank is not necessary. Move to a different site. Archive it on FA or something and tell your "dedicated readers" that you're hauling ass to somewhere that appreciates you. Splooge is sticky and hard to get out of carpet.

Jesus, it's like attack of the 12-year-olds in here - does ginny_weasley have a single fan who has even reached high school age? We haven't seen this many idiot mice since the kid who thought she was Dom Monaghan's best friend because he was nice to her in an autograph line.

I'm commenting as a mouse before the wanky behaviour of all the other mice up there manage to remove that possibility completely.

The wank is so strong in all of this. First off, good luck to any site that wants to change its rules, and people get pretty wanky when they complain about it. But that Lord Thingy's email was extremely wanky.

Doesn't even come close to g_w's spooge-filled response though. It's a dead giveaway that her hands were shaking - honey, step away from the computer for a while. The fact that you're getting so angry and ranty and tl;dr-y is testment to that. Personally, I would have collected my fic and migrated elsewhere, thinking myself lucky to have got out of a site run by such an upstart. But g_w's response (and petition! Oh, a petition! How useful!) is completely pathetic.

Shame, really. I'd just read a couple of reccomendations for her fic 'Jenny' but now I'm loathe to go anywhere near it after her little tantrum. Has anyone read it?
