Kerfluffle in the West Wing! (Ok not really...)
Thanks to the mouse in [info]wank_report:

Bwaybo- Yeah, ok, screw it. Someone posts a R.I.P. Peter Jennings in [info]west_wing_fans.

[info]erdufylla, the mod, wanks about how it's off topic in aforementioned post, then proceeds to make a ruling on off topic posts. Many agree, but some wank, of course.

Then [info]badger584 pulls ye old "you guyz suck i'm leaving now!!11," and in a completely separate post to boot.

Hey, at least it's not Harry Potter wank.

"The death of an American icon warrents a posting in any community because he was someone who meant something to people."

Wasn't he Canadian?

Yeah, but he got dual citizenship in Canada and the US.

Also depends on your usage of the adjective "American", I guess. He was an icon to Americans, though not American himself.

Yeah, I pick nits like that. Sorry.

Is the community restricted to american citizens? :-?

I just can't believe the community has a "no marquee" rule.

Now, a no sparkling rule, that would make sense.

I is dum.

So how do you do that? I seriously want to learn how to do that. And the sparklies.

[marquee behavior=alternate] text [/marquee]. Dunno about the sparkles-- google's good, though.

<span style="background: url(http://www.ukauctionhelp.co.uk/anigif/sparkle.gif)">Sparkle Text!</span> results in Sparkle Text!

That website has a few other sparkly-type gifs to use as backgrounds -- I imagine they're used to hotlinking, but I also suppose it's safer to host it yourself for long-lasting annoyance. ;)

But is it possible to have both a marquee and sparklies?

Hot damn, it is!!

In fact, it's possible to nest multiple tags.

How did we get on this again?

My favourite part about the marquee rule is that the pissed off member who left started a new community. The first post has a marquee. :P (http://www.livejournal.com/community/west_winging/)

Damnit, I should actually look at the communities I'm in. Then I won't miss all the wank-in-action.

Reading after the fact is like leftover meatloaf: It was never really good to begin with, and now its kinda cold in the middle and has to be drowned in ketchup.

I like the "if you don't read you can't post". WTFever man. I have some communities that I'm in but are not on my friends list because they take up too much space. So when I want to go and read them I go to my userinfo and get to them that way. Sheesh.

Although I am mighty glad for non-harry potter wank :D

the greatest part of the whole thing was seeing my ex-boyfriend (lj user dgtlghost) get all wanky over something so effing stupid. I'm giving him hell about it now. Tom, Tom, Tom...

your icon is out of line

Your ICON is out of line?

(tries saying in different voices, hoping it will make more sense: "Your icon...is out of LINE. YOUR icon is out of line, there. Your icon--it's so, like, OUT of line.")

Nope. Got nothin' but WTF.

This whole bit:

"The moderator can make rules. That's fine.

The moderator can not delete posts and then make up ex-post facto rules to cover his/her ass. "Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention..." doesn't cut it.

The moderator can not make excessive rules that hinders the flow of discussion. [See the ever-growing bullet-holed list of rules on the homepage.]"

makes me want to say "It's not a democracy, it's an LJ-ocracry!"

Yeah, I know, lame "Bring It On" reference ;)
