When cranky congoers attack......
Over on the Dragon*Con community, discussion has been going about guests canceling 2 weeks before the convention. Along comes [info]omahastar, who blames Dragon*Con, and accuses them of not really even having booked certain guests. People try to reason with her (him? it?), that this happens at every convention, not just Dragon*Con. But according to Omahastar, if she can commit to be there, there is no reason the stars can't and that getting an acting gig isn't a good enough excuse.

When [info]omahastar started listing all the Trek cast members he'd met as if it were street-cred? Yeah, that's when I started to laugh a lot.

Hell, a music festival I'm working at over Labor Day weekend had two major headliners cancel last month. (One of them was Devo; I don't remember who the other one was.) Stuff happens. Personally I'd be pleased if someone I admired cancelled, if it was because they'd gotten work.

This wank is pretty small, though. I haven't seen any multiple exclamation points yet.

Damn. Our paper comes out on Tuesdays -- no wonder I still don't have a life.

Didn't all the Firefly actors cancel on GenCon? damn I wish I could go to that *pout*

Hey, it's not like Dragon*Con is being run by Slanted Fedora. They actually *did* the bait and switch thing numerous times. Allong with many other shady business practices like double charging credit cards...

I wasn't going to read the comments but the sarcastic one about James Doohan made me laugh. Death is always the ultimate excuse.

Stephen Furst was on Babylon Five? The same Stephen Furst who played Dr. Elliot Axelrod on Saint Elsewhere? Really? *Tries to picture Elliot as as some kind of alien, runs away screaming*.

I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike. As a warning to the next ten generations, that some favors come at to high a price. I would look up at your lifeless eyes and wave just like this.

I've never seen Babylon Five... but I'm cracking up just imagining it. What did Vir look like - are there any pics online? This I've got to see!

This is exactly why I don't go to cons of any kind.

This is why Cons should only be allowed to have the most low-rent "third alien from the left on one episode of Enterprise" level of guests.

But we wants Shatner and Nimoy, we does.

Actually, I just want Connor Trinneer who's going to be at Dragon*Con, but since this was brought to my attention by wank I don't think I'll be going. Even if some of the programming looks kickass.

I want the dude from Star trek DS9 whose part was to sit at the bar in an Alien suite in at least half the episodes (it was the same actor through all 7 seasons, even though anyone could have been in that suit and looked the same) and just nod his head at Quark when he was spoken to. I forgot his name, but he needs to be worshiped at a con.

Morn.

I don't know the actor's name, but the character was Morn. I heard somewhere that it was supposed to be a random joke about the show Cheers. Norm spelled backwards.

My anime convention is happy to have them. Especially if we don't have to fly them in. :p

I've never had to cancel on a trip, odd circumstances or otherwise.

Methinks [info]omahastar has not been on many trips, period.

I like the guy who mentions that he's looking forward to passing on his condolences to some nerd-fame couple whose daughter died. I'm sure that they're all revved up for it too.
