Marilyn Manson makes a joke about Harry Potter.

Harry Potter fans on the Pit of Voles Mugglenet fail to realize this is a joke and not a swipe at their beloved wizard. Some highlights under the cut:



It would be a good comparison, except one thing: Harry Potter is fictional. If he wasn't, then I'd say that would be a mean comment. No one cares if he does practice "witch craft" because that's not what the book's about; it about good vs. evil, and that's something everyone's happy with.

Even though it IS the sun... i wouldn't put a comment like that past manson. But this is really like the pot calling the kettle black... i've had the chance to see one of his so-called "shows" and he is ten times worse than any actual pagan worshippers. I hope he's ready for the back lash that his comment is going to get but then again this is manson and a comment like that from him is intended for one thing and one thing only: instigation.

Tough talk for someone who rips apart kittens on stage...

I do not lie and i actually saw the kitten incident take place on one of his videos. I know it was alive hence the reason it was squirming around while he held it up in the air and all the people just chanting him on like he's some idol. US culture depends on musicians, actors, and celebrities in general WAY too much for their entainment, but this is all my PERSONAL opinion with the exception of the cat thing. I have that right (being american) and do not personally like manson, his music, or idealology simply because its all destructive. Naturally there are two sides to every issue, but people just like to argue in the end.

BIG difference between what people WANT to be true, and what is actually truth. =/

The point is that there is enough depression in the world without artists like manson simply doing it to "make a living." Music (particularly) is supposed to be an inspiring thing, not destructive. You can't better yourself by dwelling on your worst moments and crying about it. You live, learn, and adapt. However keep in mind that this is MY opinion, and not anyone else.

Getting back to Manson's supposed comment. Basically he has no room to talk, but don't EVEN put HP and him in the same catagory. Why you ask!?

HP- inspiring story about the bonds we as humans make

Marilyn Manson- simply making money off a maybe a bad childhood. ((Look at all his records and you will never see a real change in subject matter... simpy the same old meaning with new rhymes... and never anything positive.))

Marilyn Manson is like, the epitome of devil worshippers and evil...Harry Potter is a fictional character, and I do not see his 'practicing of witchcraft' to be as evil (or evil at all) as Marilyn Manson's practices. For goodness sake, it's a story, and no one goes out and kills themselves after reading a Harry Potter book.

Strange, I had no idea real-life witchcraft involved making pineapples tap dance across desks, traveling by floo powder, and turning teacups into hamsters.
Anyway, Marilyn was clearly making fun of people who bad-mouth the books when he said that, not that I'm particularly inclined to stick up for him, being the creepy man that he is.

It doesn't matter what i say here. Do what you want, but ultimately harry potter and Marilyn Manson are two COMPLETELY different things.

Just for the record though- whatever his stage antics, it doesn't change the fact his music is still destructive in the sense that there is no inspiration to it. Nothing for people to feel good about, but simply bashing someone's skull in or something of the like. I've no more to say on this.

that is riddiculous! harry potter is a book for the ages, not a book saying to people 'here, practice witchcraft!' like jk rowling said in an interveiw. people take things to liturally, they're kids, but they know its not real. (i wish it were, hogwarts sounds so cool!) its all for fun, not to support santin or somthing.

besides, i never liked marilyn manson anyways.
