FANFICRANTS ... wank
Our beloved FanFicRants community on livejournal has once again wanked like it has never wanked before-- or at least that I've seen.

Killerspork33 makes an innocent post to the community complaining about sex scenes.

Apparently on another communuty, a girl was asking people to write the sex scene for her fic because she can't write about sex. This angered Ms. Spork33 and she made an innocent post to the community.

redninjawinz obviously doesn't understand the point of the communuty and starts the wank.

I don't see a problem with it. Some people are just have problem with certain scenes and also on the girl you are talking about, she admitted flat out that she was not experianced with sex so I think it's good that an author wants help instead of winging it.

Ms. Spork33 argues back and forth with her, and eventually the thing gets blown out of proportion.

Wank is still in progress... but it's a good one. I can't wait to see how it ends.

Wow...that's some bad grammar and spelling from that fanfiction writer. Maybe she should get someone to write the entire fic for her, and not just the sex scene.

Never fails to amaze me how long two people can shout the same thing back and forth at one another, over and over again, and think that it'll win them the argument. It's one very tiny step up from "Huh-uh!" "Yah-huh!" "Huh-uh!" "Yah-huh!"

Oh, and after reading the post that started this all - the girl has more pressing concerns than sex scenes. She should maybe learn to use the english language first.

I wonder if anyone in the post the rant is about told the 'fanbrat' that fic, even shipper fic, doesn't have to include sex scenes?

Is redninjawinz frighteningly dense or are they using the 'la la la, I can't heaaaarrrr you' style of debating?

I wish they'd stop pulling out the 'don't like don't read' defense, it does not mean what they think it means.

I'm just amused at the rampant analogizing of the hiring of a pinch-hitting smut writer to copying homework from a friend. (Because I guess it ruins it from everyone else when the sex scenes are graded)

Pr0nfic is serious business.

redninjawinz obviously doesn't understand the point of the communuty and starts the wank.

People disagree with rants all the time. The face that redninjawinz disagreed doesn't seem particuarly wanky. The fact it got carried on so long and killersport started pulling out arguments like, "Everyone else agrees with me so I *must* be right" and "you're just mad because no one agrees with *you*" seems more wanky.

Ebert, how I love you. Your law gets broken every other hour.

Look at how many fangirls are into slash and write smut about that. And they've definitely never had gay guy on guy sex. They write it cause they've done a little research and know the basics so they can make it work.

So having oral sex enables one to write great dialogue then.

The only way for (fan)girls to have the gay butt</strike> sex? Ready the tent pegs. And self-lubricating anuses.

Honestly, I was more appalled at a fan fic writer with such a poor grasp of how to write simple sentences than the asking for someone to write one sex scene. Which I do think is pretty tacky and lazy, personally, if only for the fact that one scene written differently in an entire fic is going to stick out like a sore thumb, unless two authors are very familiar with each others work and have the skills to mimic writing styles.

wank ENDS? I always just thought that it kept going and going and going after we all got distracted and then eventually puttered out when one or more of the wankers finds their keyboard to be too sticky to use. (I have a backup, myself. . .)

I still don't understand why it is so bad to have a sex scene written for you. o.O; Or why it is bad for redninja to actually disagree with a rant. Not every discussion is wanky just because people don't jump and yell "yes, so true!". Granted, what happens later might be seen as wank, but at the beginning? Redninjawinz doesn't seem to misunderstand the point of the community at all!

But what I consider ridiculously funny is sporki's comment about "
Look at how many fangirls are into slash and write smut about that. And they've definitely never had gay guy on guy sex. They write it cause they've done a little research and know the basics so they can make it work.
".
Yeah. Slash-people researching. Now I read a lot of different stuff there.
Like certain actions without lube. Surely sounds like research. Even I know more about that, and I did not even do active research, I just listened to a gay friend too much.

and the "Days since FFR was last Wanked" Counter goes back down to 0. and what better topic to wank about then porn! that's what the internet is for!

anyway, doesn't it seem like Pr0nfic is the most difficult thing to write? especially if it's attempting to describe everything. and man, people can come up with all sorts of names for genitals, but none of them are good (though some of them are funny). then again...maybe I'm just weird like that.

A lot of killerspork33's argument is that a good fic doesn't need to have a sex scene in it but, judging from the way hermionemalfoy_ can't even capitalize her I's, I doubt this is some amazing story she's writing. It's probably some 18 chapter suckfest that really does need the sex because the rest is complete shit.

In fact, checking out the latest fic in her journal...
"Snape came behind her and unclipped her hair clip and throwing it into one of the rows of chairs that his students sat in. "

Yeah, instead of having someone write just the sex scenes for her...

People can have a relationship without having sex. Said relationship without sex can go on for months, even years, and it can be STILL hot.

Fnarr. (Not like I lasted very long in my own relationship...but then again, I'm not sixteen like most characters in HP fic.)

Hell, the hottest story I've ever read was a lime with no detailed description of the sex-a-thon.

I don't write sex scenes in my fic. Know why? 'Cause I suck. Therefore, handy tips to get round that.

1. Don't write romance. No romance, no sex.
2. Skip over the sex scenes. Get them snogging, and leave the rest to the reader's imagination.
3. Skip over the sex entirely. Who says people need to have sex anyway? Get them snogging and leave it at that.
4. Practice. Get critiqued. Try to improve.

I prefer 1, since romance writing is bloody difficult and no fun at all.
