Small but...wtf?
Star Wars RPG wank!

So Raging Sekhmet posts the profile of someone who recently applied to join her Star Wars RPG and dissects it point by point to show why it sucks. Although she seems to be a biton the angry side, the character was rather icky, and several people agree with that.

Rann suggests that although the character indeed has many flaws, there are legitimate explanations for a couple of the problems. Rann agrees it's a bad app, but suggests that Sekhmet count to ten and calm down. An anonymous poster agrees with this.

And Sekhmet goes apeshit.

And I go "wtf?"

Heh. I just posted myself; "Breathe deep, count to ten, and repeat after me: 'It is just a game.'"

I'm curious to see what happens.

I also made a comment about the attackage of the Marie = Always MarySue middle name. That doesn't really mean anything to me because it's such a freakin' common middle name, as I've pointed out. (there's been times when it's felt like every 2 out of 3 women I've asked what their middle name is...the answer was Marie.)

Heh, no doubt. My mom's middle name is Marie, and apparently she couldn't think of anything more original, so mine is as well.

If a woman's middle name isn't Ann/Anne or Marie I almost have to do a double-take. They're just too damn common.

It's my middle name. And I know at least five other women who also have it as their middle name.

But isn't that the point anyway? There's a reason they're called Mary-Sues and not Helga-Kendras: Mary and Sue are common names!

*shakes head* I saw that and thought the GM in question was freaking crazy. I get pissy, but THAT'S just downright cruel. The whole bit in the movie about "always two there are" is that sith lords travel in PAIRS, not that the order only has TWO at a time to fight the Jedi. There was a whole WAR between them and the Jedi years back, so unless the Jedi are REALLY lame or the WAR Was really lame, there has to be more than just two Sith running around.

And if that gal has such a stick up her ass about following the strict rules, then she needs to specify what she counts as canon and what she doesn't. If the books don't count in her world, then she needs to SPECIFY this. Good gods.

Maybe it was a Pictionary war? And Maul and Sidious were all bitter because the Jedi team had much better drawing skillz than the Sith?

Sheesh! The novel explained all that.

During the great war, there were thousands of Sith. The Jedi killed a lot, but more fell to fighting each other. (the old "Evil turns upon its own" cliche)

Now, there are only ever 2, a master and an apprentice. When the apprentice becomes powerful enough to kill the master, he is the new master and can take an apprentice of his own.

... yeah, not much more to say as I've never seen Star Wars (I know, I know) and I don't really roleplay that much. But I can recognize stupid wank when I see it.

Seeing as Lucas is one of those who can't decide which way is up some days in regards to his own Star Wars canon, maybe it might be a good idea to be a bit more liberal about the definition of "canon" in that case? If you're going to allow Episode One, just go ahead and allow the damn books.

Or at the very least, try not to lash out like a rabid harridan when someone makes a mistake and submits a so-called "NON CANON TRAMPMASTER FRIEGHT WHORE SITHDADDY BITCH SKANK SLUT BLAH DE BLER" character to a RP.

Seriously, there's sarcasm, there's snark, and then there's THAT. One can only imagine what it's like in-game when this GM gets pissed off...

Besides, I kind of like the name "Darth Judicator". It sounds like something that should be in a crossover with "Megaman Legends", but it has a certain charm nonetheless. ;)

*gasp* Data the monkey! <3 your icon!

Now that you mention it, that does sound campy enough to be in Megaman Legends. The campiness is what makes it all so fun, though--Star Wars and Megaman both. Megaman Legends wouldn't be the same without Servbots crying, and Star Wars wouldn't be the same without Luke whining.

Ah, camp. Where would modern entertainment be without you?

The comments on that profile are just so freakin'... bizarre.

Dude, so a character having a sibling is now a ripoff of Luke/Leia? WTF?

What's so hard to understand about a girl having short red hair? Yes, it was worded awkwardly, but anyone with two brain cells to rub together coulda figured it out.

Reading that "criticism" almost made me feel like that girl was standing next to me, shrieking in my ear about all the "problems" with that profile. *shudder*

I prefer "Cheesedick" myself, which is how I've seen the insult more commonly used.

I'm still trying to decide if dickcheese is some distant dialect's insult, or if they just switched it around.

That amused me endlessly. It was such a sorry excuse for a flame! I was sitting here thinking: Is that the best you do? I hope Anonymous comes by again and gives it another shot. I'm feeling gracious today, giving him/her a second attempt at it and all.

I have nothing against the original poster and I really couldn't care less about the new SW trilogy. But the way she just went apeshit over another person's comment when she wasn't even attacking her is what prompted me to tell her to calm down.

::dons her tin hat:: I'm wondering if Anonymous was the actual poster sockpuppetting around. ^_^

Sweet!

Ah, these fearless rant communities... where dissent reduces erstwhile firebreathing truth-tellers to tearful hysterics!

Yes, people can say what they want, but few people seem to understand that *after that*, other people can say what *they* want about the credibility of what the first people said...

I learned that the hard way on another venting comm, and I've seen others get into problems as well. I didn't know that the Unspoken Rule was that any extreme of spleen/hate/rage/irrationality is apparently sane and rational and good as long as it's about somebody else.

I'm all for an occasional venting, but if you're being a snot in the middle of a venting fit, it still counts, and people can still call you on it. If someone points it out nicely (which they did, here) it's kind of obnoxious to scream "NO TAGBACKS!" Sure, if you were having a temporary bitch fit, you can own up to it and say you aren't usually that hysterical. It happens. But the whole "OMG you can't question me!!!" bit annoys the hell out of me. You could be having an interesting conversation and not just a bunch of crybaby ranting, but NO.

And I don't think I've seen a comm admit this up front, which would be nice if they have things like that happening often.

Heh, thanks. I got the "They fight crime!" idea from [Bad username: setsuna"], but the "Or have sex. Whatever." I added on...because with the rampaging yaoi in the Fire Emblem fandom, how could I not?

I think that'd totally kick ass if you did a Harry/Draco version. Just be sure to let me see it when it's done! ^_^

Mew. I never even knew whatsername threw a fit until Zanne called my attention to this entry...
I have noticed that some of the people who post on Bad_RPers_Suck tend to be a bit, well, for lack of a better word, anal. Most of the time, it's not too bad, but every so often a little elitism will sneak in there, and you'll get stuff that's like "Anyone that is not up to my personal standards is a bitchsluthomarysue and neads to DIE ARBLGLARGLARFARG!"
