Making Icons for Dummies v. CSI

Like many fandoms, CSI has an icon community called csicons.   Starting about 3 days ago, [info]_krisi_  started posting icons there, like everyone else, with only one problem:  seems she was willy-nilly taking other people's icons and pasting over them to make them her own.   Add to that the fact that she was giving no credit whatsoever or even mentions whose icons "inspired" her and i give you ready-bake wank!

First instance of her "icon creations"

Second instance has been deleted by [info]_krisi_  after more members started to notice "heyyyy that's an icon by me/someone else i know of!"  including me since i recognized an icon that i already have in my roster.  That leads us to her insincere apology  (complete with weak excuses that other people just start nailing her for) and then [info]wench_for_hire , one of the iconmakers who had her icons modified, started a very public angry thread requesting the banning of [info]_krisi_

CSI fandom has finally made F_W. I feel so part of the Internet community now.

Also, her weakass apology reminds me a lot of some plagiarist "apologies" I've read in various fanfic places. I guess idiots are idiots alike, whatever they rip off.

Honestly, I don't think it was so much about the credit as it was about Krisi's obviously cunty behavior. She sounds so much like a kid caught with a hand in the cookie jar that it must be exasperating not to talk down to her.

I think you handled her quite well, though, so bonus for that. I don't suffer idiots, so I'm sure I would've been snarky and/or sarcastic.

Wow. Either that girl is an attention whore or she lacks basic reasoning skills to the extent of how can she even type?! I'm thinking attention whore. As she says herself: "I mean I could have said Fuck this and left it, but I chose not to." No, she chose to valiantly go on, defending her incomprehensible position until it was clear there was no way this was just a newbie error.

Maybe this is just me, but I think the whole comm is acting stupid and wanky, not just Krisi. Hadria says: "Honestly, it irritates the fuck out of me when people are like "there's bigger things in life than a 100x100 icon and whether it gets credited". Sure there are. So why are you on livejournal at all, if that's your attitude?"

Damn. That's one of the worst apologies I've ever seen.

I haven't seen any wank in CSI yet, but then I'm just off playing happily in the slash corner, and the slashers in this fandom are fantastically mellow. I've heard some rumbling from the het side of the fandom, but pfft, het. *GRIN*

Okay, if you're going to swipe textless icons and slap text on it, you should at least anti-alias the text. :p

And use the clone stamp tool, not a solid coloured paintbrush to cover the decorative thingy. :p

yes, csi is copyrighted, but CSI is moving images. Taking a screencap is like taking a picture, and once you take a picture the image becomes yours.

*snort* I love this logic. If this is true, then I'm going to go screencap the FBI warning off whatever movie I have to hand. And then it will be my image, and I'll sue all the big studios over every movie made in the last twenty years OMGsteeling my iamge. And I will be rich.

I am sorry but some the icons were fugly as hell..
Stealing is bad, but still she should be honored that someone used her fugly icons to make other fugly icons..
