Where's the prize money? Gundam War is a fairly new card game, it started this February in N.America and the fan base has been growing steadily. Most players are already fans of Gundam and only got into the game because they enjoyed the show. I can say that some of the players had never touched another CCG game in their life and found the game easy to learn and play. This wank began last month and would have died a quite death if Zechs Merquise had stayed banned instead of coming back after whining to the Bandai mods to let him back if he promised to be good. Most of the questions Zechs posted has been about the price of certain cards, why Gundam War is not being sold everywhere and general whining. In short, he was annoying and stirs up drama. There was +7 font, marketing knowledge being tossed around, the Bandai mod stepped in, twice and much fun was had by all. During the middle of this wank, Zechs was banned from the board, most people presume he was banned from the mass PMs he sent out to everybody. Everyone forgot about it until today, when Zechs raised a fuss about quiting the game and raising a dead thread about going to play Magic. Some of my favorite quotes from all this in case Kyle does delete this thread. Zechs Merquise I think it's because 1. they made the game a hobby store exclusive 2. They don't advertise the game on TV at all (not even during Gundam Seed) 3. The packs retail at $3.59 and who pays that for a game that barely anyone is playing and a game that you can only find in very few stores and a small number of website 4. You need 8 people to start running tournaments 5. So many people say the cards for this game have no retail value (so what is the point of buying packs in the first place especially when they cost so much). oh wait I forgot reason 6. you can't even trade on the official Gundam War forum OtakuDan 1. The Inuyasha tcg was hobby exclusive and it picked up a good amount of players before it went to retail stores. Zechs Merquise I wonder why, maybe because they advertised there card game on there DVD's. I don't see any Gundam War advertisements Gundam DVDs, but then again I don't buy them so tell me if I'm wrong. Zechs Merquise No offense but you are expecting people like me to do way too much. I'm in college and already play Magic and Pokemon and when I demoed at GAMA I missed a day at college and my mom was mad at me for that so I don't think she would like it much if she saw me doing a lot of work just at a chance to help this game take off. Kyle81 He didn't say he was expecting anything out of you. Currently he has volunteers working with him. The new rulebook and errata is being worked on by several of us currently and we do it out of love for the game. Bandai is a new company to gaming, they are a toy company originally, and they are growing. We fans who want to see the game thrive are helping the best we can to get things all fixed up and nice and shiny. You may not want to do it, but people like me have no problem with it. I'm a GO and a retailer of Gundam War, I love the game, so I will do all I can for the game. Zechs Merquise If everyone forgot I was one of the first people here running demos and I'm the one that started Demo Locations! thread. Zechs Merquise Yet for some reason people were posting on my thread about the price of a foil Andrew Watfield's Lagowe that these cards have no real value money wise, that statement of your really proves that doesn't it Kyle81 They only contain value to those who are willing to pay for the cards. Obviously all those posters who you keep complaining about see no monetary value in the cards in question. Don't see what kind of point you keep trying to make when obviously many of us don't feel the same way as you do on the issue, and never will. Zechs Merquise I figure why start a new thread like this since I'm quiting this game and every other Bandai game as well. Zechs Merquise They all spend way too much time and money playing other games that they get stuff back for playing. The only store that carries them has had the same packs for months so obviously no one else is picking it up even after the demos I did but what's the point of me spending my time and money trying to support a game that has zero support here besides me and one of my friends and he said he is probably going to quit since no one else is playing and there aren't even stores willing to buy the packs since they don't want to get stuck with them. Zechs Merquise They could at least go to one anime convention in every state as oppossed to going to stupid events like the GAMA trade show which does not specifically target there main fan base. If they put a callender here of when and were they are going to have demos at least then players wouldn't feel left out like I am. As far as the prices go if the retail price wasn't as high as it is chances are some stores wouldn't be selling it for as high a price as they are. By the way there hasn't been a time when a set for this game came out as scheduled so that statement about causing a lag in production time doesn't mean much as far as I'm conserned. And it is possible to attend every con provided they make sure to get enough volunteers since then they wouldn't need to send many of there own staff. By the way I love it how here when anyone who is having trouble getting this game going in there area or says anything bad about it someone always has to try to shoot down what they say. How nice. Quattro Also if Bandai isn’t coming to Anime Las Vegas, you should run something at the tournament them. If you first talk to the convention and tell them you want to demo a Gundam CCG and have a tournament or two, I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to have you do it. Also if you talk to Hero Factory, They’re wiling to give extra prize support for convention they are unable to attend. For example at Anime Evolution in Vancouver BC, we got a couple demo decks, along with a boat load of prize cards for tournaments. It’s not that people are adverse to criticism, it’s just your attitude isn’t’ very helpful when the only thing you seem to want to get from a CCG is free stuff. Most people here are playing because they enjoy the game and love Gundam. Those two facts have netting us in the Vancouver area a player population of over 30 people. Zechs Merquise Why didn't someone say that sooner? I'll just give James a call later and see what we can work out since I don't work for nothing (especially since I'm in college and play other games). We wouldn't need demo decks but we would definately want to get something for spending our weekends there demoing as oppossed to wondering the event. |
