Guess what, it's more FF7 pairing wank!
More bitesized than the last one I posted, but wanktastic all the same.
flusterdance happens to commit one of the worst wank sins possible: Pairing-ranting at
fanficrants, which is well known for bringing the wank where pairings are involved.
A friend of mine recently told me on the phone that she stumbled across an FF7 pairing that broke her brain: Vincent/Yuffie.
Yes, apparently this pairing has a decent-sized following.
We spent the majority of the phone conversation trying to figure out if Vin or Yuffie had ever had ANY kind of storyline involving the other, or even knew the other existed beyond "that annoying girl/that smouldering hot creepy guy".
I was always of the opinion that in order to have basis for a pairing, you had to have some kind of canonical evidence, even if it was stupid evidence. Like, "Cloud and Red XIII could get together because they were both experimented on", sort of thing. (I don't think Vin and Yuffie both being optional characters counts.)
Putting two people together because there's no evidence against a romance-- or any evidence at all, for that matter-- is like making space aliens land in the Great Hall at Hogwarts because there was never any evidence in the book that said that couldn't happen.
I'm trying to make some sort of sense out of this, but all I can manage is "buh?"

p.s.: Vincent is so hot for Cloud.
Comments vary from "omg Yuffentine is teh devil" to "you know, it's decent if it's well done," and lots of "Where the hell do you get the idea that Vincent is hot for Cloud?!"
An edit is shortly added:
An Edit to Clear Things Up: I am not bashing the Vincent/Yuffie pairing (or Yuffentine, as it's been called) OR endorsing the Vincent/Cloud pairing (that was a joke. a JOKE, people!). I was just confused as to the erm, creative nature of the pairing, since there's no basis in canon, not even a little one. I'm sure Yuffentine is very good for you, now go lie down before you give yourself a heart attack.
p.p.s.: Kadaj is so hot for his mombox.
[end transmission again]
Needless to say, this doesn't make the Vincent/Yuffie fans settly any, and probably only offends them more.
flusterdance gets bonus points for calling someone a hypocrite when they were basically saying pairing rants weren't a good idea.
And
memlu wins the internet, not even for her comment, but for the icon.
Only 53 comments, and yet so beautifully wanky.
Wow, and this time, Advent Children wasn't even involved!
