Caina on Fandom Hypocricy (Harmony Strikes Back)
I got this from a mouse on [info]wank_report, oddly enough. Gone are the days when one went looking for Harmonian wank.

Caina on 'Fandom Hypocricy

Some of it's aimed at JKR. Some of it's aimed at Chocolateers and Herons. Some of it's aimed at Fandom Wank.

And a lot of it is aimed at [info]the_hms_stfu which Caina got booted off LJ in a previous wank, and is now here on JF. I haven't been following that community very much, but I think they're having a no-Caina week. So no reaction over there.

I’m sure many people are wondering “how is Jo responsible for the anti-Harmony sentiment on the Internet?”

For the love of enterity - perhaps I was asleep/drunk//high/circle as appropriate the day JK declared that all Harmonians are stupid and we should throw rocks at them but really, all that happened is that she made a slightly tactless remark at worst in 'teh interview of EVAL!!!!11'

Would somebody please, please explain to me how that equals persecution, victimisation and all that other piddly crap they keep accusing her of subjecting them too? Because every single time I try to personally process this logic, my brain rejects it as "error: file not found."

to equal this statement?

Harmonians brought this crap on themselves by being idiots, blowing that interview waaay out of proportion, assuming JKR pays way more attention to fandom than she actually does and coming up with shit like Witherwings actually having some deep meaning to do with anything whatsoever. Nobody said you can't enjoy H/Hr, and lots of people who enjoy it sanely and don't harrass others or come up with totally batshit theories DO and aren't mocked for it.

You are not "persecuted" for liking H/Hr. You are "persecuted" (if you can even call it that) for making asses out of yourselves, wishing death on JK Rowling's children, comparing yourselves to black people, comparing yourselves to Jesus and generally going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to wanking like an acne-ridden teenager with a copy of Playboy and the house to himself.

And they will never, ever in a million years realize this, but I had to get it out of my system.

JK Rowling, as an author with fans of different ships (which she was well aware of during the writing of HBP, if not as far back as GoF), has an obligation to be professional when dealing with fans. Professional means a certain amount of neutrality and fairness.

While it's certainly preferable when authors don't act like wanky bitches, it's not a requirement. They don't get 'kicked out of writing' if they act like maniacs. People will continue to buy Anne Rice books. Bartenders will continue to bartend in the dark.

if Rowling wished to appear fair, she would have included a representative for us in her interview.

What about a Draco representative? What about the fucking VOLDEMORT rep, huh? Or H/D? H/D is much bigger than H/Hr. She can talk about whatever the hell happened, will or won't happen, or would only happen after having consumed huge amounts of vodka and spoiled eggs.

The sense of entitlement is overwhelming.

Dear crazy-segment of H/Hr fans,

JKR does not owe you anything, fandom does not owe you anything. I see D/Hr where I want to, but I also know that it's not really there, I'm just having fun. First, I read the book without ship-colored glasses. I find it helps with, yanno, understanding the book.

So, she unnecessarily renames Buckbeak to Witherwings. She could have come up with a million other names, but she chose a name that would shoot down the H/Hr Symbolic Flight theory, by withering Buckbeak’s wings. You see, Rowling isn’t the only one who can recognize imagery in a story. We understood what she was saying.

There’s the hippogriff tattoo joke, which everyone knows is a thinly veiled insult also against the Symbolic Flight theory. Rowling must have especially hated that theory.


So let me get this straight, she picked up on all of this in HBP, yet didn't pick up on Ron/Hermione? Please. :\

What did they win?

1. A lot of wank from batshit Harmonians OMGYAY

2. The ability to play in canon and fanon. Sorry but I like having two options instead of one. *shrug*

So, Harry and Hermione are Soul Mates because they rode Buckbeak. If we follow that logic, then, Harry/Hermione/Sirius OT3 because the three of them flew together on the hippogriff.

And just for the fun of it: The fan of Harry/Ginny are called Chocolateers just because Ginny gave chocolate to Harry. That makes me think: Lupin also gave Harry chocolate. Harry/Ginny/Lupin, then?
And, since I am a Sirius/Remus fanpoodle(?): Sirius/Remus/Harry/Ginny OT4.
