Where there's TFN, there's wank.
Where there's wank, there's...more wank. -_-

Karen Taviss is a SW author and employee for Lucasfilm who's best known for her willingness to interact with users on a regular bases in the TheForce.net Literature forum. However, following the controversy and subsequent protest of the statistics released in the most recent issue of Star Wars: Insider (you remember that wank, right?), Karen leaves in a huff.

A week or so after the incident, the fans on the boards that did enjoy talking to the VIP want her back, so Havac wants everyone to make like hippies so it's "safe for her return."

Obviously, this being TFN, wank ensues. The whole thing is just soaked in fanboy entitlement, pointless board politicking, and whining.

This is my little attempt to coerce Ms. Karen Traviss back to the TFN boards

I do not think that word means what he thinks it means.

Every time a TFN wank pops up here, I remember why I stopped reading.

Whoo! More TFN wank!

These wank posts of yours are to blame for sucking me back into the SW fandom, I'd like you to know. After that last one, I went to a second hand bookstore to hunt up cheap paperbacks of the Thrawn trilogy. Am halfway through 'Dark Force Rising' now, reconnecting with my teenage self.

At least the Thrawn Trilogy was good, unlike some other SW novels.

Okay since I'm one of those who doesn't give a damn about numbers as far as Star Wars is concerned who the hell is Saxton and why the hell does he have so many fans? I don't know a thing about him and his views other than it creates a lot of controversy among fans that generally confuses me.

Curtis Saxton is the guy who does the Star Wars Technical Commentaries, and on the strength of such, was hired by LucasArts to write licensed technical guides for the universe, resulting in a huge amount of wanking when people disagree with his interpretations. The most recent one, linked to in the OP, is about the size of the clone army in the prequels.

Nah, I figure it's the repression some have over the status of intimacy whether it's insinuated or vaguely shown.

/Veteran of too many arguments of it's only canon if it was in the movies.

That place has as many issues as LiveJournal does. I can only handle one set of issues at one time, so LiveJournal it is. Besides, they have boy Jedi doing naughty things to other boy Jedi on LJ, and you can't get that on TF.N. That means LJ wins. XD

Okay, have read through all relevant threads & blogs, as well as screen-caps of a portion of deleted comments.

Traviss was not "driven off" by rabid TFN fanboys.

She made a mistake, seriously underestimating the number of clone troopers used.
When called (civilly) on said mistake, she responded with sarcasm & condescension. She did not address the numbers concerns.
When pressed, she & Kaufmann continued to respond nastily, thus inflaming the fanboys, who are, after all, Star Wars fanboys, and have nitpicking of minutiae in their blood.
Her response to their demands for an accounting of the numbers was "It's only fantasy! Go think about the starving babies in Africa!"

Yeah. That's mature.

She made a mistake & wouldn't admit it and ran away when pressed. The fanboys got angry & rude, but Traviss & Kaufmann brought it on themselves.

~~Note: Not a "Saxtonite", not a "Fandalorian", not a Traviss fan or hater. Just an interested observer, who sees more of a wanky author than wanky fanboys this time around.
