One hundred klaatus on the newcomer!
One man, being a bored gamer, creates a maze for slugs out of salt.

People complain.

I laugh.

Ew, PETA-wank. That stuf reeeeeeeeks.

But hello, it's a SLUG. A clever slug that survived anyway. People don't call PETA over people putting slug poison in their gardens...

Best part of the wank...

When they started comparing cattle slaugtherhouses to Concentration Camps.

Cause killing animals for food is the EXACT SAME THING as trying wipe out a huge segement of the population.

someone says peta doesn't care about invertebrates and someone else responds by saying it's part of the kingdom 'animalia,' and lists the kingdoms.

and someone responded to the first nazi post with MORE of the same type of quote... and someone ELSE responded by saying the comparison was brilliant.

>.>

'Geez, I think you really, really don't get it. Swatting a fly is right, because fly is a pest. On other hand, torturing a fly just for your own play is NOT right, because fly is a living being and feels the pain. Just like slugs. Putting a slug into salt is just like putting you into acid. Yes - go and try to stick your ass into a bathtub full of acid. You'd like it? I guess not!'

Aaahaha! That is so wonderfully twisted.

I love animals and all, but PETA are to normal, sane animal lovers as Jerry Falwell is to normal, sane Christians. I have yet to really agree with them wholeheartedly; I can't stop laughing at them.

As for the slaughterhouse bit, that's so beautifully idiotic. "Nazis compared Jews to animals, so let's compare animals to people and COMPLETELY MISS THE POINT!" *runs around screaming about injustice and peels off in an SUV*

As a diehard animal lover and - as a friend just described me on LJ in an entry I just read - a hardcore Christian, I can tell you you're right, on both counts.

I wonder... if we put PETA, Falwell, Robinson, and Jack Chick in the same room together, if there's any laws of physics that would result in them canceling one another out with their massive stupidity and just ceasing to exist...

PETA careth not about slugs. They only like the CUTE animals. To quote Drew Carey: "A big thing now is dolphin-safe tuna. Yeah, that's pretty great if you're a dolphin... but what about if you're a fucking tuna?"

Oh, I think there's incredible stupidity on both sides here, not just the PETA wankers. This message is my favourite:

"That's moronic"

Hitler killed Jews because of ideology. Yes, it was evil and wrong. But it has nothing to do with killing animals, except when people ideologically fail to treat their fellow humans as humans.

We kill animals for meat, hides, bones, and other goodies we can get from them. This is good and right, because animals are lesser beings than we.

That's assertion, not argument. First of all, how do you define 'lesser'? There are plenty humans that could be considered 'lesser' in some way, that doesn't make it okay to honey glaze them and eat them on Sunday afternoon.

This is because we happen to be omnivores who need a diet including meat for proper health. If it's us or them, I choose us. After all, it's not like the worms, fungi, and bacteria are going to abstain from eating ME when I die (you might know it as "rotting"). So why should I feel guilty about eating another being? Cycle of life and all that. I eat; I will be eaten. I'm at the top of the food chain, though, and I like it here. So fuck the vegans, and fuck PETA.

There's so much fallacious goodness in that paragraph I don't know where to start. I think I'll just quote the inimitable Troy McClure. "If you don't eat them, a cow will eat you and everyone you care about!"
I also now have this curious mental image of mushrooms and bacteria hunting down humans so they can eat them. I really don't worry about the worms et al because I'll be well, already dead. It's not like I'm going to be jumped by a gang of nematodes and be ripped apart for my chewy, chewy protein.

I'll give you the same advice I give every vegan I've ever met: turn on your brain for a change. Just because someone evil used a certain means (assembly line concept) to an evil end (holocaust), doesn't mean that the MEANS is evil. Technology is neutral; it's how it's used that results in good or evil.

Yes, but they think that using technology in order to breed animals soley for their exploitation is evil. Turn on your brain before you start question-begging.

For the record, I'm a moral vegetarian, I thought the snail maze was sick but I don't like PETA, I don't think they do the movement any favours; They say things that aren't true, they use emotive, scare tactics that just piss people off. I think they damage their cause more than help it.

::carefully stashes the "ham" out of sight::

Around here, we just call it "Chlorinating the gene pool." Of course Homo Superior has every right to treat Homo Sapiens (and Homo Sub-Sapiens, commonly found in my vicinity) as the cattle they are.

Now pass the BBQ sauce. There's a love.

I'm a happy omnivore and my view of PETA is that they waste too much energy cutting the brakelines on fleets of seafood distributor trucks or freeing cows. I haven't seen them doing anything about free spay/neuter clinics for cats and dogs, or making an effort to take down/regulate factory farms.

I'm all for people choosing not to eat meat or other animal products for whatever reason (health, personal preference, religious/spiritual, political, just plain don't like meat or dairy, whatever). I just don't like how PETA tries to get their point across.

Agreed. Fact is if you don't like meat, don't eat it. But do NOT give me shit because I like to eat meat! That's my issues with many vegetarians and PETA, it's not so much that THEY don't eat meat, but that they try to guilt/scare/force ME to not eat meat as well.

Because as we all know, cows are extremely clever and resourceful, and will manage to ably survive on their own outside of the farmer's care.

I think the maze thing is cruel too personally. I've never been for harming any kind of animal unless it's absolutely neccessary, be they 'pests' or not.

And i agree with another poster here said, PETA could be doing better things with their time than their semi-terrorist activities now. Damn right, let them set up something to help control the pet population. Forget about the cows for a moment, how about the millions of pets put to death every year because dumbasses don't spay or neuter?

Ahem, sorry for ranting, i volunteer for several rescue groups and it all just pisses me off.

The slug was unharmed. Its fine. I don't know what he did to it after but at the end of the maze? Its fine- because slugs can sense salt, and won't slime their way into it. Its kinda like putting up a maze of cardboard. Or straw, lots of people run around in straw mazes- some children come out far more bruised than that slug did, as they generally arn't designed for climbing on. But THE SLUG IS FINE! It was not salted or tortured. He doesn't make any reference to later salting of slug, so i'm assuming its still fine, unless he put it outside and a bird ate it, but hey, that happens.

As someone plagued with Slugs, who has salted more perimeters than a panicky witch-hunter, I found it funny. (one record night, we removed 18 from our front room, where they had come to escape the flooding)

Esp since it was so obviously picked up and moved. There were no slime trails.
