small but the smack down is is big
just a day since fanficrants wanked and 'they're at it again

Watch fan rant about factual error in the Narnia trailer (OT much?), then get smacked down by half the internet with "ummm....actually thats not an error technically, "

HELP HELP! I'M BE REPRESSED WITH CLARIFICATION

ETA: fixed grammar and number of days, you guys sure keep me on my toes ,thanks!

Waitwaitwait...they renumbered the books? WHAT THE HELL? The Magician's Nephew ties with The Last Battle for "least interesting Narnia book," and they're suggesting that kids read it first? FREAKIN' BRILLIANT.

Though I'd have agreed with you back in the day, those are actually my two favorite in the series now. I had a similar problem with Anne of Green Gables. Couldn't get into ANYTHING past Anne of the Island (and that barely) as a kid. When I went back and read them in college, I devoured the whole series. Though Anne of Avonlea is still my favorite.

I like when two of the commenters go off about how, reading strictly by the chronological order of the universe, you have to stop one book mid-paragraph, read another, then finish.

I dunno. I always liked The Magician's Nephew best, perhaps because I thought that Uncle Andrew and Jadis were pretty much the only sympathetic characters in the whole damn series.

Aw, The Magician's Nephew was my favourite. I don't remember the others, except the first, much at all. But then again, I was an odd child.

I've seen them renumbered that way before. I mean, chronologically it makes sense, but personally I don't abide by that sort of nonsense. It's number six, thanks very much.

Aside from, perhaps, tales of the lives of the kids back in our world after they became too old, and maybe some romances centering around Shasta and Aravis, it's going to be pretty hard for smutficcers to bring their freak on into Narnia.

Oh, come on, now. There's plenty of smutfic you could write about that whore Susan.

Eh, I see no wank. The OP was wrong, several people corrected her (pretty politely, for the most part) and the OP apologized for being wrong. The only possibly wanky part was so many people correcting the OP, but that kind of same-time commenting is to be expected in a large community.

At first I saw no wank, but then it started popping up at the end.

Anyway, I get goosebumps watching the trailer, as does my boyfriend, who despises the Chronicles and everything they stand for, and I hope they stick it out with the films so I can see the ending of The Last Battle, which was my favorite moment in the series. I hope they don't fuck with it.

As someone who's always been profoundly indifferent to the Narnia stuff (not for lack of trying, I could just never get into those books), I'm just waiting for the inevitable wank between the slashers and the fundies.

My mom goes to one of those Borg cubes born again megachurches, and the other night they hosted a free screening of the movie and had a discussion group afterwards. I saw it, and it was pretty sweet, but to believe the fundies that were there, it's going to be the ultimate assimilation conversion tool. I still felt pretty Pagan when I left but I'm just waiting for this element to clash with the slash part of fandom. I've got popcorn and mops ready.

5 days? It's been only a day at most since they last ended up on F_W.

I read someone whining about chronological/publishing orders and got bored after about 2 lines.

Now I know where it came from, and just like The Majician's Nephew - it's the least interesting wank ever.

Well, thank goodness everyone's rushed in to tell that eighteen-year-old what's what, because she might not have noticed if it were only said two or three times. ::rolls eyes::

Um ... welcome to the internet. :P

Okay, not seeing any wank, but at least I learned something about the Narnia Chronicles, because I have got one of those re-numbered books, and have so far the first three of the new order, which is Magician's Nephew, Lion, Witch and Wardrobe and The Horse and His Boy.

Maybe I should find the other four too.

Wow, way to pile it on, guys.

I might have done as well, though: the "new" order is a pet peeve of mine. I have my mother's old set of Narnia books, and I'm pretty firm in thinking that The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a better first book (and that reading The Magician's Nephew first takes away from both). Not that I dislike TMN; I love it. (I like all of 'em except for The Last Battle: Prince Caspian is my favorite, and while I never found The Horse and His Boy as interesting as the others, I do like it).

I've heard pretty vehement arguments for the other side, though, so I think it probably just depends on what order you personally read them in first. Still, I'm rather glad and smug that Hollywood is doing it my way.

I love irony, though. I'm glad she posted.
