Minor MegaTokyo Wank
A case of a wank that didn't quite live up to its potential.
Piro posts a new MegaTokyo comic with a Dramatic Revelation(tm).
The ensuing conversation in the forums is your typical interpretation and Piro worship, until someone posts the following:
I'm a little disappointed by this comic. It is completly cryptic even with that comic reference. Now unfotunetly im sure that many people will be lost as to what this all means. Those who whore these forums regularly obviously knew what was going on. This is the first time I believe that the comic has slipped alittle too far into all the side and other things that the fourm whores post. I know many will complain or flame for this, but think of this objectivly. If you came here on the recomendation of a friend and read this would have any idea what is going on? Also it seems to me that references to the comic titles are important. I never bothered to look at them so if substainsial plot is involved then there would be a problem with many readers. I remember you mentioning Mr. Gallagher that you would like to do an "American Manga" As I see it you are succeding wonderfuly, but things like this dont contribute to that goal. Names of individual comics should not be factors in the plot. 2 3 4 5 10 years from now what will you do if there are still obscure references from forums and old comics? sents sents.
Which provokes a few replies throughout a thread that's mostly Piro worship and speculation on the meaning of stabbing one's self in the face. But this disagreement doesn't actually explode. Instead, we get a discussion of cheating in MMORPGs that's even wankier than the strip discussion, with gems like:
I always knew there was a reason I didn't like Miho. She's a confirmed cheater now, by hacking or other means.
What's wrong with hacking?
Is it 'cheating' to be better at a game than someone else? Is it cheating to bunny-hop or rocket jump when the game's physics allows it? Is it cheating to castle or to take en passant if the other player doesn't know those rules? Is it cheating to camp, tank rush or telefrag?
Argue all you wish, excuse it all you want, it is a moral issue, it is a blatunt(sp?) violation, and "you" know it.
Consider reality for a moment. The laws of physics we live in ourselves have features that can be considered "loopholes". Should we then refuse to make use of them? Without that wonderful field known as quantum physics we wouldn't have a lot of todays technology, and quantum physics is definately something that would scream loophole if this was a game.
And you see, this is exactly the point, you, the "foolish" people (no offense really) simply are so thick onto "HACKER HACKER" (and I wont even start AGAIN explaining how much hackers are different from crackers and how mistaken you are) that you cannot begin to comprehend the thin line of morality.
We have enough lawyers in the real world using all sort of lame ass excuses to get convicts off.
In the gaming world I expect more common and better judgement as well as morals.
