"Stick Enjoy the Silence up your arse" and so forth

in the depeche_mode  community, a lovely and non-pretentious user by the name of [info]synthetikmisery  made a post:

Why do you sheeple, think Violater is their best album?

Black Celebration and Music for the Masses are far better albums, and put them on the map for most of the world along with 101 which was a after effect of Music for the Masses. They went from small venues to huge arenas with the release of Music for the Masses. The work was musical genius, only matched by their live shows from that time.

Violater was filled with radio friendly pop crap, which is quite different than synthpop. When Z100, here in NYC had Enjoy the Silence on heavy rotation, you know DM went wrong somewhere. Money bought them a good album.
The true songs on there are barely mentioned and barely heard.

Stick Enjoy the Silence up your arse and stop being such sheep.

People do not seem to take this label well, the term "coward" is bandied about and the victim card is played.  Probably wouldn't be wanky if [info]synthetikmisery wasn't so keen on taking pot shots at everyone, whee!

ETA: Awww baleeted already :/ Sadly i didn't get a screenshot, shall i just delete this entry?
Son of ETA: The post is back in a more "user friendly" yet strangely f-locked format here (up to you whether it's worth it to join to take a look or not, but the wank train seems to be making a second stop :X)

The post is back in a more "user friendly" format

does "user friendly" = friends-locked?

Fraid so. I don't want to join depeche_mode, either, though I am interested that the community even exists.

[shrugs] I'm more of a casual fan than a hardcore groupie of most music. I listen to the band, enjoy the music, and that's it. There's no analysis, no squeeing; I just like what I like, so there's no point in joining a fandom about it.

Seriously, why do people wank about this shit? People like what they fucking like. Deal.

But don't you know that the ONLY possible reason a person could like something popular would be sheep-like stupidity, and it is not possible ever for that thing to be popular because it's actually good and lots of people happen to recognise that? Everyone knows that there is an actual, chemical process that occurs when people outside a band's hometown/small originating subculture actually start to hear about them, which causes their talent and worthiness to be directly inversely proportional to their acceptance in "the mainstream." The Beatles are the ultimate example of this, where every "alternative" (especially goth) person ever is required by law to swear that they hate them and always have, and must refuse to admit that every band they like was in some way influenced by them. (Close runner-up: U2.)

Aerobot has it, this dude doesn't seem to grasp people differ in opinions.. I think he needs to take a look at the world and take the stick out of his arse.

On a look at his dramatica entry.." the fact that Marius honestly believes that his online fantasy world is reality." Oh good f*cking lord.

If this person is such a fan of Depeche Mode, why is he spelling the name of the album wrong? It's Violator, the last I checked....

Because he thinks the album is unworthy of correct spelling, perhaps?

I like "Halo" way better than I liked that freaking "New Dress" song. That said, maybe Music for the Masses was better. I'm not sure. I got all three of those albums back when people still bought cassette tapes.

I have about five DM albums on tape. (Somewhere, at home.) I downloaded some of the songs, but I never got all of them on mp3. Cassette tapes used to be my staff of life. I was all about the home-made mix tapes.

And I remember when everyone made fun of people with computers, too. And the advent of the color monitor! God, that was great.

See, that's what I loved about visiting Europe - it's actually okay to like pop music there. Or was back in the early Jurassic period '96-97, when I was there, anyway.
