Final Fantasy fans? Wanky? The hell you say!
This starts innocently enough over on the Final Fantasy XII GameFAQs board with a topic asking "What type of Hero will Vaan be?" Replies start off normally, until a user named Amber Cross jumps in with "As for Ashe, i have a crisp nickle piece that her so called "tough act" won't last 25 minutes, hell, give me 5 minutes, and I'd break her so fast, your head would spin. Worthless. Hell, you put her against anybody traine din more then thug school, and she would probably be beaten, raped and thrown into a garbage dumpster like the worthless garbage that she is."
Amber Cross continues to wank, saying: Listen up square, if you're gonna give us a tough chick, then go all the way, I won't stand for the worthless rubbish one more game. I mean, now I'M a tough chick, not some pathetic princess that can "swing a sword" and "bent of revenge by getting saved by Aladdin". I swear, this is pissing me off more then it should. Then again, who gives a ****? As long as guy's keep buying these games to fap to, that moronic SE will keep making this rubbish. Oh **** it, I'm sick of this crap, I must say the same freakin' thing every day.
neutralFaith jumps in and is quickly modded for his reply of, My nose hairs lift more than your entire goddamn body. Don't start with me. God, chicks who think they are worth a damn in a fight piss me off. I outta beat, rape, and throw you in a dumpster.
Amber comes back to show off her e-muscles with if your nose hairs can actually lift more then my entire body, you should send that into Ripleys believe it or not, because I can easily Bench 500 pounds, so those are some talented nose hairs you got there.
People point out that, y'know, we don't actually know anything about whether or not Ashe is a strong character, and Amber comes back with the following you are absolutely correct, however, past experiences (Celes for example) all start out the same way, and end up being weak, crying girls. Now, I wouldn't care if they actually didn't have their so called "Tough" act, as that is what I find stupid. But, you know, I think I'm going to pass this game, I have had enough of this crap, no more RPG's for me, until they actually decide to make some "Original" characters, at which point, I will die of shock, and never get to play then, oh, the irony.
She, unsurprisingly, comes back a couple times, but that is the end of the Amber Cross wank. But don't worry, the Final Fantasy fandom is comprised almost entirely of teenage boys, there is no shortage of wank in sight!

I sort of agree with Amber. Just not only about the women. Everybody *says* they have new original characters, but then again, if they were new and original, we couldn't have threads like "Is Vaan more like Tidus, Zidane, Squall, or Cloud?" or "Is Fran just like Lulu?" And the one that will probably start next week: "Is Balflear more like Wakka, Zell, or Barret?" I miss the days when Square didn't rehash. And if the story turns out to be rehashed as well, I ain't buying it. If you want me to pay $75 for your 2 DVD set, DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL. Sqaure should be thrilled that Suikoden 4 was such a dog because if it wasn't they'd be the second most anticipated RPG, rather than the first. Suikoden still tries new things (the boat for instance), and while it doesn't always work perfectly, I give them major points for trying. New material is hard work but it's worth the effort because it prevents the material from going stale. With most RPGs toady, you recognize the stereotypes of each character 10 minutes into the game.
GusXIII: I like how you associate everyone with those people who think that those characters are original. Makes it so easy for me to take you seriously.
Brett8: That's for SE to think of, not me. I have no say in it, neither do the rest of you. Personally, I don't get the point of trying to judge a character before much is known about them. The only thing we can do is hope that SE creates a great game.
Yaldaboath counters with As a potential buyer, I would hope S-E listens to me and the other fans. It's just that simple. Unless SE has some kind of amazing original plot, I'll buy something else. They had over 4 years to do something original, and the only thing that I don't recognize from a previous game so far is Ramon/Lothar. Sorry but for that length of time and for the cost of the two disks (I think the 2-disk set will be $75, considering 1 disk is $50) I insist on something new in the game. If I want to destroy the evil empire again, and collect crystals, I can play the copy of FF6 that I already own. If I want to play as the cheerful Zidane type character, I already own FF9 and can play it any time I want. If I want to mess with a MMORPG battle system, there are dozens of freeware games to choose from, and a few pay ones. Why should I pay good money on a new game when I can play an old one that has the same features?
