My very first time posting wank. *sniff* We haven't seen FMA wank for a couple of weeks. And incidentally, Sky_Dark was involved in that one as well.

The Facts:

Ameru posted fanart on fm_alchemist a few months ago. Sky_dark left a compliment. Last week, Sky_dark offers up her soul posted some icons in her icon journal using Ameru's fanart as the base for numbers 21 and 28 without offering any kind of credit or acknowledgment of the artist. Those two icons were quite popular.

Bushbaby_sama, a friend of the artist, writes an open letter to "sky_dark, icon makers who use fanart, and art theives," calling sky_dark out about the use of fanart in her icons. Ameru takes her art down.

Sky_dark shows up and essentially says that 'fanart is a copyright violation, the artist didn't ask permission before she drew the pictures, why should I?' And she never lifted a hand against anyone, so of course the artist isn't hurt by anything she did.

Some Highlights:

Kaitou Marina wants to know why sky_dark's friends (Hime1999) are worth asking permission, but no one else is. The answer makes no logical sense.

In another comment, Sky is more explicit. "Hime gets support because she is a visible and active member of the LJ community. She is accessible. It's a double standard, that's just how it is." Well, that makes it okay. I'm glad she explained that for me.

Others pipe in. They, too, make no sense. She's not the only one using stolen artwork! And besides, artists who draw fanart are violating copyright. How dare that girl want credit for something she drew?

I wonder what would happen if someone plagiarized sky_dark?

And Sky-dark posts a rebuttal in her own journal. Responses are varied, but mostly some version of 'she posted her art on the internet, how dare she get upset when someone uses it' and 'ZOMG!! Sky is NOT rude! That girl had it coming!'

ETA: Removed some erroneous assumptions of allegiance.
