VERY OLD Babysitters Club miniwank
One fine day on ff.net, an author named Oreo posts a rather spiteful parody of the Babysitters Club book series. She's quite blatant about wanting to piss off fans of the series with it.

The reviews. Plenty of "LOL SO FUNNY I H8 TEH BSC TOO UR SO RAD!!", some "wow, you're so evil lol". A few people raise eyebrows and go "well, this kinda sucked".

And then there was benbrattlover. At the time, she was a whiny and oversensitive person who left ff.net forever because everyone was so mean. She's back on ff.net now and hasn't mentioned anything about having left before because everyone was so mean, so maybe she's changed a little.

But anyway, she threw a TOTAL FIT in her review, basically giving Oreo what she wanted: Flames and tantrums. This same girl also had a tantrum over a Mary Anne/Claudia femslash fic, which, if I remember correctly, is where the "omg BSC saved me from suicide!!!" stuff originated. (The fic in question seems to have been removed. Damn.)

VERY tiny wank, but benbrattlover was quite whiny and Oreo quite spiteful, so I felt it was worth a mention in here. :P

... BSC slash?

I'm having trouble processing that.

Isn't there some kind of rule about responding to wanks about fandoms with "I can't believe there's slash in this fandom?" It's the internet!

I'm not a member of the fandom, but it's a series of books/movies of which a lot of people have warm preteen memories and in which the vast majority of interaction is same-sex. Saffic results.

Some of the other reviews are gems.

And why does only Dawn have a video player? I mean when MA first met her she was all like o a VCR!
Doesn't pratically EVERYONE have a VCR? And most now have a DVD!</a>

Yeah, why are Mary Anne's folks too penny-pinching to buy her a DVD player? It's not like the publication dates are right there at the beginning of the books, or anything.

According to "I love the 80s", the average VCR used to be around $2,000.

Now you can probably get one for like, $50.

Wow, this is old. 2001?

I barely remember benbrattlover, but she wrote some things in L&O:SVU that her sockpuppets defended when people pointed out she was spelling the name of her main character wrong.

Funniest:

Of course, this is before the place was overrun with netspeaking 12 year olds. Now she would be considered a writing god.

Man, I was just reading some BSC slash the other day. I hadn't realized there was any on the net, but I was tickled to find it. Kristy seems to be the most-slashed (which is annoying, actually, 'cuz yes, she was a tomboy, but no, I don't think she was butch). But there's also a lot of Claudia/Stacey, which hit a little kink I didn't know I had.

...er, that has nothing to do with the wank, but I was just amused to see BSC slash wank right now.

Aw, nostalgia. I was a victim of benbrattlover once. 7th Heaven (yeah yeah, shut up) did a story a couple seasons ago about the mother banishing four of the kids (two of whom were minors) to the half-finished garage apartment. It was played for laughs, because emotional abuse and neglect are totally hilarious. I wrote a fic about what might have happened had the writers taken the story in a serious direction.

benbrattlover left this fabulous review in which she declared my story "GREAT!!!" and then proceeded to trash every single tiny thing it was about, and then asked for more of the story. Whaaaat? What did you like about it, exactly?
