Small wank, but the subject....
Okay. Let's see. New movies that are coming out. Jarhead. Oh, that'll cause wank, definitely--already has. And, uh, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! That's already produced big buckets of wank (idiot director ruined Dumbledore's character, dammit)! There are tons of movies that are going to produce wank! What's a movie that one would NOT BE EXPECTING WANK FROM?

Chicken Little.

Yeah, I found a little teenie wank about the movie CHICKEN LITTLE. I'm not a fandom_wank vet....but...well, you read it.

master_dark4dune: Fantastic, a film about a Chicken. Is anyone else slightly aware of the crazy epidemic happening around the world about chickens and all other birds. I know someone who can even poke fun at the avian flu, whoever heard of it? I'm just wondering if this will apprehend anyone's views of seeing the film or taking their children to see it.

Satire? Real? I DON'T KNOW. But...ENTER THE IDIOT.

pulpkid: i've got nothing against mentally handicapped peaople but i think IMDB should be more careful when allowing people to write stuff on their boards. master_dark4dune u r "special"

As if dark-dune could let THAT go unanswered!

master_dark4dune: It was satire and please don't patronise me with the 'You are special' phrase, because it unoriginal and extremely unfunny. Also be careful with your use of 'mentally handicapped', there are people who could find that offensive.

And it just goes downhill from there. Mini for now, but still.....dammit.

Note to master_dark4dune: it's just a movie, I'm sure your children won't catch the bird flu merely by watching it.

More evidence that people really will fight over anything. Fantastic!

Because a Bird-flu scare will stop people from watching Chicken Little, and NOT the horrible horrible previews, and the premise of turning a story I could tell a child in two minutes into a 90 minute film...

Only with we're lucky. I bet it'll be two hours long at the shortest.

For serious. Every single frickin' movie I've seen in the theatre lately has had that preview, and every time my jaw just drops over the fact that a) it would occur to anyone to even make such a flimsy story into a feature-length film, and b) that anyone in the world would want to watch it. Especially when people in the audience inevitably actually laugh at said preview. OMG it's a porcupine who says "yo" like a black guy or something!!!1 ITS TEH FUNNEH!!!!1@!2!

(small voice) Actually, I think the porcupine is saying "whoa" 'cos he's shocked about something.

Not that this makes it any funnier, true.

Vaguely remember that one ... the one that sticks to my mind is Snow White and the Queen running off to be "wymmin" and form a camp sort of thing.

I think.

The Politically Correct Fairytales I am familiar with are a series of books...

I liked Hanzel and Gretel. The witch taught them all sorts of nifty tricks, but then BETRAYED them all for Big Timber. So the kids turned her and their Big Timber dad into squirrels. Or something.

The Princess and the Pea was good, too.

I like the one where the little boy points out that the Emperor is wearing no clothes, and somebody else says, "No, he's just practicing a clothing-optional lifestyle!" And everybody gets naked and dances in the sun. That's the way it should have gone.

But Chicken Little looks so CUTE!! And as a 3d animator, I weep at it's perfection. SO... CUTE...

Yeah, the animation is pretty nice. And I not-so-sekritly love the ass-shaking dancing chicken sequence. But the movie itslef basically looks like one long string of popular movie spoofs with an extremely thin plot holding them together with something less than duct tape.

Eh, I dunno. I get this sorta Zim-ish vibe off it, which pretty much guarantees I'll go. It'll be self-referential and weird and probably WAY too damn spastic, but I've killed two hours of my life doing worse things.

I'm going on a matinee, though. ;p

It was feeling sort of Emperor's New Groove to me. And I loved that movie, so I will certainly be catching Chicken Little. I think most people can agree that it looks better than Brother Bear, though.

I had to watch Brother Bear over and over on a continous loop for THREE hellish days when it came out on video. I worked in an entertainment store at the time. It was the most depressing Disney movie I've ever seen--on several levels.

My kids rented Brother Bear REPEATEDLY over a couple of months. It was nice...the first couple times. ONLY the first couple times.

don't worry, I'm a teenybopper for them too. if it's BNL, I gotta have it.

Dad: "but heather, it's a greatest hits album. you own all of their CDs already."
Heddy: "no way Dad! there's TWO NEW SONGS ON IT! It's TOTALLY WORTH THE TWENTY-FIVE BUCKS."

lol.
