Saw disturbed me, so the sequel should be boycotted…
…and that somehow leads to a big PETA “Meat is Murder” discussion! Don’t ask me, I really don’t understand how some wank happens. I just know it does.
Okay, this is the LAST POST from the imdb.com boards—I swear. The wank is too easy there…I need to CHALLENGE myself. But the wank is so FUNNY!!!
Okay. Saw II came out last Friday—I saw the first, and I enjoyed most parts of it, along with some of the trivia—however, like all of you, I’m sure, I’m EXTREMELY leery of sequels. I need some reassurance that it may be worth paying $3.00 for. IMDB time! Summaries are good, reviews are good, got almost 8 stars—obviously, public opinion says it’s not bad. But…I find myself…moving…towards…the boards…
And I find this.
Starts off as innocently as wank can—but it does jump right into the wank.
mindscape-2 speaks out!
First, s/h/it talks about how wonderful s/h/it’s taste is.
</i>I'll preface this, too, by noting that I am not a prude. I like horror films. There is a long, honorable tradition, as old as cinema itself, in the United States and elsewhere, of horror in film art. My tastes run from the old Universal Studios monster movies of the 1930s, up through Val Lewton, Romero, Cronenberg, some Argento and on through to Clive Barker and even Takashi Miike's "Auditon." I not only appreciate horror cinema, I appreciate horror IN cinema.</i>
With taste like that, it’s perfectly reasonable that s/h/it can say THIS:
Having said all that, I must say that I will not see "Saw II." I saw the first one, and I left the theater feeling ill, spent and abused. For what purpose? That's the catch. There is no purpose -- at least, no purpose that has anything to do with art, serious art or otherwise. The point is to reproduce, as realistically and as gut-wrenchingly as possible, human beings torturing, maiming and killing each other ... for the sake of "entertainment."
As such, we must ALL be disgusted, and we must ALL boycott it to prevent more movies like this from happening.
A troll hops in, but I didn’t see the comment—bah-leeted. I think it was about how boycotts are for fags. But IMDB doesn’t have a “Don’t Feed the Trolls” rule! So, people naturally feed it.
sexorcist6969: Get a life. It's more of a man/person to stand up and speak about injustice, than it does for you to show how ignorant and uneducated you are. Why is it whenever a moron needs to bash something; they feel the need to use homophobic epithets. If you have a point to make, then make it with facts that relate directly...not pointless ones that appeal to people's insecurities and promote hatred.
All that nonsense goes on for a little bit, someone talks about how, “Well, if you don’t like that movie, boycott these, too” and trolls are deleted…then things get kicked up a notch when BEFLIN jumps into the fray!
beflin: I'll put this as bluntly as possibly: DON'T EAT MEAT!!!
WTF?! I’m sorry, my brain did not compute that jump. Explanation, you ask? Why, beflin can provide.
If you claim to oppose horror, torture, oppression, etc. then here is something YOU can do to minimize it: DON'T EAT MEAT!! (or buy fur) --- See REAL horror video at www.peta.org.
Not the Nazis, not Saddam Hussein, the North Koreans, not the Peruvian dictatorship regime (which imprisons American environmentalist patriotic hero Lori Berenson), not fascist Middle East oil-controlling states --- not even nature itself, which is in actuality a perpetual holocaust to all the countless lifeforms on this planet -- YOU. We can fight those horrors, too. And those that are in the past we can't do anything about.
But if you don't eat/consume/buy animals, the breeders won't breed them.
NObody who is NOT a vegetarian can claim to be "pro-life" or "pro-quality-of-life" or "anti-violence" or "moral" or to have "moral values".
Yes, the PETA nut has decided to turn a movie discussion into a vegetarian party. Not only that, my love of extra rare steak and chicken makes me worse than Saddamn Hussein could ever hope to be. Sorry—I must go kill myself.
The wank rages.
footballstud68t: I just watched the PETA videos. They're hilarious. It had great camera work. I was very impress. Im sorry but vegetarians are a waste of skin and air.
spang2005: "With a name like Footballstud68t, no wonder you're so dumb!" I'm sorry, this is a little off topic but I really take offense to this comment. I have played football my whole life and have gotten to know many many teammates and coaches, and I hate the "dumb football jock" stereotype. Granted, Footballstud68t made a dumb comment, but you can't judge someone because he (or she) plays football. That's dumb.
kakihara83: I didn't mean to hurt anyone. However, I don't understand how any human being would find Peta videos hilarious. In my opinion, someone who laughs at watching animals getting killed in very nasty and gruesome ways (and for real) must be mentally ill. By the way, I'm a vegetarian and I don't see myself as a waste of skin and air but more as someone who's trying to help by boycotting a way of life that turns living creatures into production machines. Yes it's a personal choice, and yes it is off topic. But I wanted to answer the same way he did with the ''weak seed-eater'' vegetarian stereotype.
MrBennington: You are trying to do this as a vegitarian?? What your triyng to do is stop human beings from eating meat! You're an idiot. You can't change the way we have behaved for milions of years. Get a clue. The way your teeth were designed allows you to chew meat. It isn't unethical, its instinct. As for the person who started this post. This movie IS art...maybe not in your eyes but for damn sure in the eyes of the writers and directors. That is the great thing about art. It isn't meant to appeal to everyone. That is why there are so many classifications of art. Good marketing too. $30 million opening weekend-$3 milion production cost=$27 million profit in 3 days(borderline genius to me). Who are you to say this has nothing to do with serious art? Have you ever heard of Marilyn Manson? Probably don't even know he makes movies do you? Much worse than this yet MTV-one of the worlds largest media distributors classifies him as an artist and I believe have even awarded him for his art. If you want to talk about snuff films on the other hand, maybe we should ban the film "8 mm" featuring Nicholas Cage. That was pretty disturbing too wasn't it. At least neither of the Saw movies displayed young girls in snuff situations. In my mind neither of you know what you are talking about. I think you are ignorant to anything that doesn't appeal to you. Although it's situations like this that make our country so great. The right to free speech and freedom of press. Please don't encourage communism by subliminally suggesting this kind thing be banned.
Then the thing moves on to talk about how humans are insectivores and herbivores, not omnivores (I’m an omnivore, thank you, I cannot live without meat /drama), but the best wank was the stuff I just posted. I went and checked out the last post, though. Let’s see where the subject ended up.
alienelvis: If you want to see a real person die in a movie, watch "The Wizard of OZ," or "Ben Hur," and quit complaining about our fun MAKE-BELIEVE movie!!!
Well, looks like it was a nice ending to a nice wank of 735 comments. Farewell.
