Cereta recently posted a rant on fandom and male privilege, prompted in part by a fanficrants post complaining that fandom doesn't actively try to recruit more male members.

The post spawned more than 700 comments, largely positive, and some interesting discussion (and in some cases, bizarre discussion, as in the case of an anon poster who expresses outrage at a heartbreaking instance in fandom in which a poor man was actually forced to pretend to be a woman because he didn't think he'd be afforded the same male privilege there he received everywhere else).

The real wank, however, starts when houster_gold shows up to explain that television is actually a female-dominated medium dripping with misandry. All the research and experts on the subject back him up - he won't point to anything, of course, because anyone who doesn't realize what an underrepresented minority men on television are is too stupid to be worth his time (except to argue with while not providing documentation of his claims ad nauseam, apparently), but it's true, goddammit! Everyone knows it!

It starts off slow, but quickly progresses, up to and including rather hysterica homophobia accusations when a poster objects to houster_gold patronizingly referring to her as "honey."

You also don't want to miss houster_gold returning to his own LJ to rant about how women control not only television, but also the world at large.
