Woo hoo! Clay Aiken Wank!
I just love the adorable little kids on the Clay Aiken Live Journal Community. Granted, I usually feel like their maiden aunt posting there and everything, but still. They come up with some of the funniest, wankiest stuff imaginable. Such as...

Clay Aiken= He's like Jesus, in a way.

You guys, as HARD as it is to believe, we just totally have to accept that some people may actually not like Clay!!!111

Dude, I'm not a big fan of WWJD bracelets myself (although my mom bought me one once, because the beads were pretty and she thought I could just take the W beads off to have a bracelet with my initials on it) but 1) making "what would clay do?" braclets? and 2) wearing one JUST BECAUSE clay wears one? aren't they sort of... missing the, you know, POINT of the bracelets?

Don't have time to comment on the other two yet, as I must now dash off to work. Woo.

That boy done broke my gaydar. I just can't tell. I mean. He's really The Gay. But I can't tell if he's gay-straight (you know, one of those straight guys who have a flair for interior decorating, love Broadway, and give excellent relationship advice) or just The Gay. I peripherally know people who are close to him, though, and I will say that if he IS gay, he's not out to any of his friends *at all*. But really, everyone needs to calm down about that, IMHO, cause it's not like anybody having those conversations will get the chance to sleep with him anyway.

Wow, that's a great little flamewar there. The wank's coming in from all sides on that one. On the one hand, the original poster's allegation that all unrequited/celebrity crushes are pointless is pretty ridiculous. And I'm damn sick of hearing about people's "perfect gaydar", because from what I've seen, all they really mean by that is that they accept and believe a certain set of stereotypes. Then again, the Clay fan going on and on about how horrible and hurtful it is to the fans to imply that Clay might be gay is way, way oversensitive.

Heh. Just glad I have an excuse to use this icon, which I've had for a while courtesy of jfpbookworm. (Yeah, being a Clay fan has given me lots of opportunities to utilize this phrase, believe me.)

I find it amusing that the girl was saying that making a WWCD bracelet would be "blasphemous." She needs to look up the actual definition of "blasphemous." Saying, "Clay is God!" is blasphemous, if you're a Christian. A WWCD bracelet, or a WWED (What Would Elvis Do?), or a WWSatanD, even, is not.

All I know is that he was the runner-up in this year's American Idol competition. The winner was a guy named Ruben Studdard.

Anyway, I lived under a rock about this too, but from what I've observed on F_W entries, the gist of it is this:

The competition led to lots and LOTS of wank even before it was down to those two, and it got even worse after that - crazy Clay detractors kept going "His voice's so Broadway musical, that'll never sell outside of that setting!" and "He's GAY!" (as if either was something to be ashamed of), and crazy Ruben detractors kept going "He can't win, he's FAT, and being fat means he's UGLY!" and sometimes being downright racist by tacking on "nigger" at the end of that. And of course, the really rabid Clay fans are still FURIOUS that he didn't get the title.

And then there's the halfway sensible folks (such as my friend Alruhi), who didn't care that much who ultimately won anyway, because even if you don't get the crown, the top contenders tend to get some nice recording contracts anyway. (For the record, my friend loved Clay's voice, but still picked Ruben over him because she liked his performances just a tad better overall.)

Anyway, yeah, crazy crazy shit, that AI wank. I wouldn't touch it myself with a ten-foot pole.
