I think that idiot just doesn't realize that each and every fanfiction is a little story that suits the author's fantasies. Otherwise, it would be canon.

Minor irritation: the word 'bishie' is - yugh. it's so saccharine and cloying and twee . The very nature of the dang word makes it really difficult for me to take a poster seriously when he or she whips out 'bishie'.

I just want to duck and cover whenever I see it used unironically, because I have this horrid feeling that any second now the poster's going to squeal 'KAWAIIIIIIII' in tones so shrill that bats for miles around will get discombobulated and smack into people willynilly. @_@

Okay, seriously, I know the guy who responded to this did it kinda douch-y. But honestly, I can kind of see where people are coming from when they're annoyed by this. God knows it creeps me out. Really, any guy who says--even in jest, "Two hot chicks can NEVER just be friends" in reference to his porn habit comes off as ill-mannered, creepy, and makes me want to protect my woman-parts and run away as quickly as possible. Sure, people have their fantasies, but there's a line between that and reality. God knows I love the yaoi on occasion. But there's just a line people cross when you have to say, "...Okay, ew, stop looking at me O_o."

Cruelty to yaoi/yuri? Actually, in several fandoms I've experienced the exact opposite. People are all about ignoring canon couples (often vilifying the female love interest of the hero(es)) and mashing the prettyboys together regardless of stated inclinations.

An here I always thought that Yaoi is the accepted form of self-insertion (no pun intended) for a lot of the fangirls.
I mean... Most of the time a pairing consists of Character A (who the fangirl LUVS), and teams him up with Character B, who is girlylized beyond recognition, almost as if Character B is The Fangirl in a full-body-suit posing as Character B. Before you scream "foul" think about replacing Character B with your average female OC or self-insertion. Yes, the dick's missing, but what would really change outside of that?
To top it, The Fangirl will get lots of feedback and encouragement for her HAWT SECKS and COOL YAOI, while at the same time she bashes Sues and selfinsertions happily because "I'm writing TWU LURV"...

I only don't like non-canon yaoi if the author decides to bash the main character's real love interest or just casts them in a negative light of any kind for no reason. Otherwise I don't care if there's yaoi in a story I'm reading as long as it's well written.
