God's special people.
Harry Potter fandom, you belong on the short bus.

Bilbo Baggins, aka Adolfa posts at FAP. Apparently, redeemed!Draco is boring:

Yes, [the Malfoys] murder. Yes, they do practise genocide. Is it a crime? Yes, yes, it certainly is. But not in their eyes. And just because the rest of the world thinks there's something wrong with seeing through those eyes and therefore wants Draco to be redeemed, that doesn't mean it really is wrong.

Pepper Imp (pepper_imp) takes issue with this sort of thing eight posts down the page, and invokes Godwin's law (EDIT: It has been pointed out that this is not Godwin's law. Am dork! Still, nice and integral to the great Circle of Wank, and a good argument as well.):

Are you really looking to be a Nazi apologist? Because that's what you sound like.

Faith_Accompli (faith_accompli) jumps in and regales us with her wit in the next post:

No, you poxy slag, it's obvious that it's a bloody crime but they happen to do it anyway 'cos they think it's like putting down a mad dog.

Bilbo Baggins/Adolfa feels her honor has been impugned. [EDIT: And she has LOCKED HER JOURNAL! To all who missed it, Adolfa posted an open letter to Pepper_Imp, telling him/her/it off and to take Adolfa off her friendslist. Interestingly enough, now that it's friendslocked (I assume) PI can no longer read it. Sweet, sweet wankery.] [EDIT AGAIN: I just can't keep up with the backpeddling. Behold the wank. Again.]

And apparently it's all down to what appears to be a rather scathing review that Pepper_Imp gave for Faith_Accompli's fic, Walking Higher. Faith_Accompli seems to refer to the review in her FAP post and no one can seem to let go of it.

Wank she sang to me... wank she brang to me...

Aww, c'mon, you're just getting slack. I posted that at least six hours ago, I've no idea when Pepper Imp jumped in.

Yes, it was very wanky of me, but I had fun.

Heh, I was going to wank the FAP thread (and yes, that is me posting, call me on it if I am being wanky!) but you beat me!

*shakes fist*

So, can someone explain all the DE love I see floating around HP fandom?

*plebes away*

Also, what is a Slytherclaw?

I don't remember reading about that house.

From what I can tell both Adolfa and Faith belong to a LJ community called antiplebes (which I've heard of before), and pepper_imp has made a new, rival LJ community called anti_antiplebes. The user info just says "Where those above criticism get their due..." o_O

Maybe it's just another example of "dark" = "cool" that we see in so many other fandoms.

Also, what is a Slytherclaw?

Ah, I was wondering the same thing. I think the anti-plebe crowd is taking everything just a bit too seriously. *g*

IIRC, a while ago when there was a plague of Sorting Hat quizzes going around, someone decided to make one that determined which *two* houses you were most likely to match. This resulted in things like Slytherclaw for Slytherin + Ravenclaw, and... I don't remember the other results 'cause I didn't take the quiz. Oops. ^_^; But I think that's what started that.

God damn the HP is a scary place.

However it is good to know that if I horribly kill or torture someone it's alright as long as I think it's okay.

Now if you'll excuse me I have some much needed avenging to do.

For a bit more wank, in case you all missed it, Pepper Imp started up a community here! anti_antiplebe. Wonder if anyone'll inform her about double negatives...

Anyway. For those of you who jumped in to see the APR stuff when that went down.

But it's not a big wank yet, just a babywank. Hmm. I wonder if all this HP wank makes Baby Harry cry.

Oh, and Franzeska? Adolfa's right here, you can bitch about her journal to her as well as around her.

Hey [info]adolpha. Since you seem to be reading over here a lot, I thought I'd let you know that your post has an error. You state: I notice that you list eight members of Livejournal as friends, and yet not one has listed you in return. What you seem to be missing is that PepperImp has hidden her "friends of" list. I began looking at the user info pages of those on her friends list and found that at least one person did friend her back.

The "you don't have any friends" attack is childish at best. This time it's also incorrect!

Yay for Resmiranda! I love me some HP/Bilbo Baggins wank! She's wankier than the wankiest wanking thing on Planet Wanktonia.

And, um, is it just me, or is Faith_Accompli taking the HP universe a little *too* seriously? I mean, some of her comments seem to indicate that she thinks Gryffindors and Slytherins are actually real people. 'Cause, it's just a book, right? Or did I miss the non-fiction part of it?

Also, Pepper Imp, hee! <3 <3 <3 My ass wears a hat for the funneh Pepper Imp.

I don't know... taking a look at it, it seems less like she was saying "Genocide is okay if you think it is", and more that "It's okay for Draco to be evil in fanfiction". I agree, after the umpteenth fic where Draco turns all good and reveals he was never REALLY a racist little prat, it was just his father magically controlling him, it gets a little irritating. Slash writers are the biggest proponents of this, of course, wanting to make Draco all good and light and fighting Voldy so that he can hook up with Harry and make with the HOT STEAMY QUIDDITCH BOY-LURVE! In essence, they're taking all the bite out of the character so they can guiltlessly hook him up with a "good guy"... it's be like Darth Maul turning his back on the Dark Side and going whining to the Jedi Council that he never wanted to be evil, Sidious MADE him, but now Obi-Wan's love has freed him. *gag*
I could be completely wrong, of course, but I just think she was saying "It's okay for Draco to be evil in fics" rather than "It's okay for people to commit genocide if it's what they believe in".

People, learn to read even through mispunctuation.

"Yes, they do practise genocide. Is it a crime? Yes, yes, it certainly is.</i> But not in their eyes. And just because the rest of the world thinks there's something wrong with seeing through those eyes and therefore wants Draco to be redeemed, that doesn't mean it really is wrong."

I think she just said that the Malfoys are entitled to their own moral code, it's only a crime if they act on it. No matter what Draco 'thinks', he's never done anything criminal and in the HP universe has a perfect right to think whatever he likes without being handcuffed to the bed by thought-police!Mary Sue. Thinking things like that may be revolting, but last I heard thinking nasty thoughts wasn't a crime. Not outside the US, anyway.

Anyone who redeems one of my favourite villains because thinking that way is WRONG will be feeling the back of my flaming hand. Of course it's wrong, that's why they're the villains and will be soundly beaten in book seven. They don't have to be saved, they're fucking fictional.

Also, can we please leave the personal vendettas at the door? If you think you can't maintain at least a token scrap of neutrality, do our battered reputation a favour and don't post. Gloating over F_W turning on one of your enemies is a brand of wank, but mostly just the kind that stings if you get it in your eyes.
