Heads up and hands where we can see 'em -- it's time for another Reminding of Certain Rules:

No trolling the wanks.

This has been happening more and more frequently lately, and not just with newbies. The general rule is, we're here to point and mock and occasionally go a little mad. Fandom_Wank and affiliated comms are snark communities, not a links dump to give you a convenient resource for how and where to best express your inner idiot. If you would otherwise have been involved in the wank -- a member of the comm, for example, or friended with the wanker, or any other reasonable proposition -- we obviously have no say in your right to comment. It's none of our business if you want to wank, except insofar as we get to mock you too. And if you feel a need to engage in honest discussion, well, the Internetz Iz Important Bizniss. But if you go diving into the wank from F_W, for the love of god, don't come telling us about it -- linking to it on F_W to get a reaction from us is pretty damned wanky in itself...it's like calling on us to support your wankery. Even if you did it with the "best intentions" (whatever the hell that means), you're giving every appearance of trolling.

If you want a good example of an egregious violation of the no-trolling rule, cast your gaze upon this little ugly. Discussion is one thing. Outright trolling is something else. Note: "I couldn't help myself" or "I had to" or variations thereof are not excuses. They're either: A) outright lies; or B) symptomatic of a lack of control over your motor functions so extensive that you're probably best off locked away from external stimuli, and certainly shouldn't have access to dangerous things like means of mass communication, or anything sharper than a plushie.

The above link is also a good example of self-modding. The mods, such as we are, are here to mock, just like most of you. We're lazy sumbitches, and much prefer people to behave themselves and/or engage in self-moderation. Since F_W has always been largely self-moderating, we'd like to emphasize that anyone can and should make a point of discouraging F_W trolling. Have at it -- not only will it make F_W a better place, but it'll give you a self-esteem boost by mocking and belittling someone else. And it's been proven that people with good self-esteem live longer, thus resulting in extended mocking shelf-life. However, given that this is getting more and more frequent, we want to serve notice here: this is your warning. We don't ban often -- there are currently fewer than 10 people on the ban lists, and three of them are the same person -- but we will ban the next time something like this happens simply because we want to make sure people know we're serious about this.

P.S. This all applies to any of the major wank comms ([info]fandom_wank, [info]otf_wank, [info]clairvoyantwank, [info]political_wank and so on.)
P.P.S. No need to gang up on the linked comment...it was just linked as the most recent example.

Except that, no, people DO need to hear this, maybe especially the people who don't read FW_Debate.

And the hell is an anonymous telling a mod that they posted something in the wrong place for?

P.S. Don't act five and you won't be treated like it. Just a hint.

Because it's not a real anonymous. It's a member too chicken shit to say it under their own name.

I was thinking the exact same thing, actually.

You said it before I could.

If people feel like being asshats they could at least have the guts to own up to it.

I think posting anonymously when you have an account should be a bannable offense. If you don't have the balls to put your name on it, don't say it.

We have banned for it, as it is considered trolling.

That was my first thought, too.
