Millyfan Wank
From an anon on Wank Report:
Celesma posts a Trigun fic on the Trinut Forums. Lady Shadowcat doesn't like the fic and a guest (sockpuppet of Millyfan?) shows up to bitch at her. Millyfan then shows up, wank ensues.

Lady Shadowcat edits her some of her wanky posts to hide the evidence and an admin edits some of Millyfan's posts to hide the wank there too. Celesma shows up, tells everyone to shut up, and peace reigns.

For awhile, anyway. I'm not sure what this anon is going on about on the third page but it could pick back up soon.

That was a good read. I'd kill to get the sort of concrit Shadsie gave, for realz. I also like how it erupted into craziness when Shadsie was actually not acting BNFish AT ALL but the anon was like "You. Bitch." But my favorite was when the author came back and was like, "You guys, don't insult each other! :(" So cute.

Srsly. I did read over the concrit, and while it was given in Shadsie's typical tl;dr fashion, it was "I don't like this because..." (i.e. true concrit) rather than "omg you are teh suxx0r." It all just proves that while both Millyfan and Shadsie can dish it out, neither of them can take it.

This is bleed-over from GAFF, where Shadsie threw a fit after a second thread dedicating to dissecting her fiance's Trigun magnum opus appeared -- despite the fact no one brought anything personal to the thread but her.

I edited my post to try to quell the fighting. It is unfair to say that I did so to "hide" - as, being a Mod, I could have gone and and edited MillyFan's quotes by me, but chose not to.

I edited my first-response-to-MillyFan because I realized I was being wanky. I rethought what I'd said and decided to edit it because I knew it was unproductive and I wanted the topic to die down into a state of peace. To leave my commentary up would not have been conducive to that peace. As said, I chose not to edit MillyFan's quotes from me in her response because I would have been abusing my Mod powers.


As for the second edited post - that was because of an abuse of Mod powers, born from ignorance. My second edited post was me simply saying "I am closing this topic because I see it becoming nothing but fighting here." Being newly appointed a Mod at the forum, I was unaware that it was the "Mod/Admin Ettitqute" to disscuss a thread before closing it. I was not made aware of this policy until after the fact (I thought I was made Mod to keep the peace in the forum any way I saw fit). Since I had violated the ettiqute and the Adminstrator chose to re-open the topic, I chose to edit my "I am closing this topic for the sake of peace" post to "I am Binky the Clown." It was a mistake on my part, and I apologized profusely to both Admins. Now that I know this "Mod Ettiquite" I know what is expected of me and what is an abuse of power.

I didn't want to "hide evidence" - I merely regretted what I had said in that first response and edited it to try to keep peace. The second post was simply an "I'm closing this thread" post that wasn't applicable anymore.

That is all I have to say.

I did post wank here once. I regret it. I was being mean. I'm trying to put away most of my meanness now.

What's annoying me is that -- I was *mostly* the victim in all this. I gave concrit on a fic. MillyFan as a sockpuppet came along to wank and to bitch me out. Yes, I responded in anger, but I edited that post out when I realized just how stupid I was being. (Before it appeared on F_W, so I wasn't "hiding evidence" I was trying to keep the peace).

You know, except for some commentary in that edited post, I don't think I was being wanky at all. Yet, what are many people on this thread doing? They're bringing up past wanks with me to talk about how much I suck.

You know what, F_W? I suck. I know I suck. You don't have to keep telling me I suck. I get it. I'm *trying* to change. Can you please stick to talking about the wank at the time and leave the frigging past out of it?

I really just want MF to leave me the hell alone. After the whole GAFF thing, I've been trying to leave her alone. It's like, she wanks, if I'm in a 5 mile radius of the wank (or, like in this case, the victim of the wank), I STILL SUCK because I've been featured here as a wanker in the past in conjunction with her.

If MF does anything like this again, and I do stand firm in my now-resolve to completely ignore her, can you please stick to talking about her wank instead of dragging me up into it just because I was mentioned or happened to be "in the room?"

I'd really rather be featured and bashed here for my own asshattery, not because of hers.

I know most of you are going to laugh at this and use this as further proof of my suckiness. I don't care. I felt like I needed to say this.

I will say that Shadsie/LadyShadowCat seemed very calm and rational and offered some valid criticisms through the first two pages, and then at the bottom of page 2 I raised my eyebrow at:

If you think "needing to go back to rethink a fanfiction" hurts - try a novel you've had your heart into for 3+ years, going to a professoinal-style writer's club, and basically being told your character isn't believable, that your descriptions are boring and loose people....

Or being told by your boyfriend whose that you've really got to change your original ending entirely.

I was certain at that point the GAFF/ArkNorth wank was going to return (with a vengeance) and was surprised to see that the rest of her comments seemed to focus more on the fic until the "you got wanked" red flag was raised.

I missed the memo saying that fandom_wank was actively hunting for people to mock. I thought wank was something you just couldn't help stepping in, like gum on the pavement.

If only thebitingfaery had been involved. Maybe Vash would have almost been a sex therapist in the dark.

I wonder if it wasn't someone checking f_w to see if this wank got on it, rather than a member of f_w trolling. Perhaps I'm being too generous. But I think people see wank in the communities they frequent and check back to see if it landed on f_w or otf_wank or whatever, and then link back. (I know I check f_w for wanks on my friends page so I can be famous on the interwebz- but as a member of f_w I don't link to the wank or anything).
