Yu-Gi-Ho!
So, I put the search string "Seto Kaiba murder suicide" into Yahoo because I was looking for a dark fic I'd read a while ago.

What do I get? Yu-Gi-Ho! I thought it was satire at first, especially the 'armor' section. I hoped it was satire, I prayed (insofar as an atheist can pray) that it was satire. Unfortunately, as the responses make clear, the guy was completely serious.

And of course, a variety of satisfied/unsatisfied customers.

The first link is the actual article, the second is the responses to the article. The guy who wrote the article replies to the responses in big blue font.

The responses basically alternate between people that are convinced that Yu-Gi-Oh (especially the TCG) is a tool of evil, and between people I'd like to kick off my side, such as:

Anonymous: You people shouldn't be allowed to breed cause you might create monsters.Your up there on the list with Asoma Ben Laden and Sadamn Hussien. No!! Your worse. Sadamn and Asoma had resons for doing what they were doing but you people don't."

Remember, he's in favor of Yu-Gi-Oh and thinks people speaking against it are as bad as 'Sadamn' (no puns please) and Asoma. Mhm, Naruto. Oh wait, wrong fandom.

Jeff-chan: In japan, Yu-gi-oh was supposed to be for people that are mature! just like dragonball or gundam wing! In Japan, the kids show would be such things as pokemon or digimon. if u notice, the drawings and characters are more cute or more humorous!

In yugioh, the drawing look more serious! Its not actually the show, its originally made for people who are mature, kids were too immature!

...Good point made badly. I hate it when that happens.

Jeff-chan also asks "When jesus heals people, isn't that a form of spell-casting? Or as more commonly know as 'white magic?'"

Another anonymous suggests "if you must feel the need to "help" people...get out and feed the hungry and shelter the homeless! Don't attack children's activities! Leave entertainment BE entertainment."

Nathan K wishes the Yu-Gi-Oh article had been 'stronger' because "I worship with a brother who was one of the world's highest ranking occultists just 15 years ago. He did all the "abominations" listed in Deut 18:9-12. However, God literally confronted him and instructed him simply to 'choose' whom he would serve -- very similar to Joshua 24:15 I saw posted on your site. By his own occult rules, he had to submit to this higher power. In the past years, God has transformed him into a mighty warrior for the cause of Messiah. There is no God like our Lord!"

...And there's no point picking out the rest when you can just read through it all yourself. XD Remember kiddies, KnK is an occult website, there are at least twelve reasons not to see the HP movies (and no, none of them have to do with the actual movie's quality), and Yugi prays to Yami, who as his dark side is obviously the devil (oh noes!).

From Mark: [...] What children learn from this game is not that Magic will give them power, but that intelligence, self-confidence, & strength are things to be admired. Are they not??

Not necessarily, Mark. It all depends on the source of that strength and on the values that guide the intelligence. And self-confidence is often a major obstacle to trusting God and His ways. Please read Toying with Death and  Role-Playing Games & Popular Occultism

There's so much here, but I'll settle for two things:
1) At first I misread this to think that the OP was talking to the gospel-writer Mark. Oops.
2) So, self-confidence is a bad thing? You actually want to teach children and adults that having confidence in themselves and their own decisions is a bad thing? Are you listening to yourself?

The saddest part is that I think he is... *cries*

Oh I just tried to read some of that batshit insane tl:dr over thar and it's as if my brain shut down, probably because I can't bring myself to take the whole "Satan will seduce your innocent god-fearing chyyyyldren via [insert name of cartoon/book] with the Temptation of the Black Arts and lead them down the burninating path to HELL" argument seriously. Nope.

Pfft. We all know that in the world of Yu Gi Oh, it takes an entire season to complete what would normally be a five minute damnation. The kiddies are safe.

..Good point made badly. I hate it when that happens.

Point still made and correct though.

the show was originally made for older audiences (high school and up) who were more capable of dicerning grey areas in tedt than children, who might immediately buy into some dark evil meaning. The show also highly emphasises the idea of friendship, courage, teamwork and intelligence.

I don't think YuGiOh is satanic or anything of the sort. The idea almost makes me laugh. (In fact the pagan symbols that were edited out of the japaense version before it was broadcasted in America weren't originally satanic symbols - they were wiccan and/or pagan symbols that were adopted by cults and used as evil motifs. Not even in themselves. Remember even he swastika was a symbol of peace until Hitler reverted it.)

Wow.. just.. wow...

Though if you realllllly wanted to play with this guy's head, turn those armors into a set of custom cards. Special effect for having them all in play? Summon a 3000/1000 "Religious Asshat" token in attack mode.

Besides, everyone knows the true evil comes from Zatch Bell, with an electric devil(Humanistic Pagan values) obssessed with eating whole fish(Proper Christian Morals)..

Damn, if it's THAT eazy to demonize CCGs, hate what they think of Heroclix..

Here we go again.

The "Oh Noez! Kids like it! It must be ebil!" mind set. People like this make adults look bad.

When it comes down to it. It's mostly 4kids' fault for trying to focus this at the 12 and under crowd when it's ment for older people. Though most of the symbolisims that the Anti-HP/YGO/Anything-that-so-much-as-mentions-Pegan-and/or-Occult-stuff crowd is a lot of it is stuff that would go directly over the kids' heads. Most kids don't study the bible or real Occultism, so all they would think would be that the symbols and stuff were just something cool looking that's part of the show.

*Steps off of her soap box before people start throwing tomatoes at her*

Who wants to place bets that if this guy thinks Yami Yugi is bad in the anime, his head'll explode if he reads the manga? Even in the undubbed version, Anime!Yami doesn't have the twisted sense of humor or the sadistic streak that Manga!Yami displays in the first seven volumes.

*Fangirls Manga!Yami for that reason.*

I haven't seen anybody make the obligatory "not all Christians are like that" post yet, so please, allow me....

Many of us are sane people. Really! And we even like things like Harry Potter and Yu-Gi-Oh! (Well, to be strictly honest here, I'm not a follower of the latter, but I don't consider it Teh Ebil either.)

Just my testimony...now back to the wank.

From the 12 reasons link: Blind to the true nature of God, children will blend (synthesize) Biblical truth with pagan beliefs and magical practices.

As if the way we celebrate Christmas and Easter aren't already pagan syntheses?

I was distracted by his tirade about The Giver by Lois Lowry. Upset by the adult themes? Fine, I can see that. But when he accuses the book of preaching the importance of sameness, of communities where everything is monitored and everyone is treated as a cog not an individual, I had to laugh. If he had actually READ THE BOOK he would see that the books argues strenuously against sameness, against everything he rants against in his "why this book is evil" essay. It's like an anti-communism manifesto.

But I'm sure the Yug stuff is pretty maternal-explitive nutty, too.

Yeah, I've seen these nutjobs before. Anything in a kids show that isn't 100% christian, even things like haunted houses or other religions, is GOING TO TEMPT THE CHILDRUN INTO EEEEEEEEVIL!

Um, yeah. Look, if kids are so pathetic that they could be hellbound by a simple game, the Yu-Gi-Oh is the least of your worries.
