Apprentice wank
Donald Trump is about to pick his fourth Apprentice, and he can choose between a white chick (who has lost every time she's led a project) and a black guy (who has won every time he's been project manager). [info]al_absurdo makes a post to the LJ Apprentice comm saying that Unless Randall really messes up, this one's in the bag. Even if Randall and Rebecca's record were the same, Randall would still be advantaged...Being black is an advantage this year. Several people object.

[info]al_absurdo flips his lid and invokes the capslock of RAGE against anyone saying that his comment was racist, since he's black and therefore immune. Or something.

(what is this, racewanks in fandom month?)

So, I was just reading something about Fullmetal Alchemist right before reading this, and all I could think was 'why does Donald Trump need all these apprentices?'

Then it hit me, he's trying to make the Philosopher's Stone and he's choosing his raw materials.

Obviously he doesn't see that if he's implying that the people who run the show are racist when he says that this person will win because he's black and that they need more ratings from minorities. That's what people are complaining about.

I thought I lived in Central America when I was four, because we weren't up where it was cold, and we didn't live south in the jungle, hence Portland Oregon was in Central America.

Okay, this may make me racist and admittedly I didn't acutally read the wank, but wasn't he mostly implying Trum and Burnett are racist? Because I have absolutely no trouble believing that they are (or that ::gasp:: something in a reality show might not be 100% real and fair).

I'm already quite convinced Trump is sexist. If a male contestant takes initiative and speaks his mind, then he's showing good potential. If a female contenstant does the same thing, she's being bitchy and needs to back off. Yeah, that makes total sense.

Pretty much, yeah.

If he wins, it proves that the only reason he won is because he's a superhero -- Randal has five degrees and is a Rhodes Scholar. But, if he loses, even with all of those qualifications, because someone with a worse track record out-performs him during the final task, then it proves that Trump is a racist who will never hire a black candidate, no matter how qualified.

There's a lot of speculation that he'll hire both of them, which also smacks of racism, because if a black candidate with five degrees and a 3-0 PM record can't be the only winner, then that's still racism.

There's no way to resolve this debate and no possible outcome that won't ignite some sector of the fandom.
