Another day, another HP sploogefest.

Over at LJ, [info]kate_mc sets up The Rant Room, which is really just another way of saying HP Christmas Wankfest. But what else could we expect, with an introduction that rallies the anti-R/Hr fans with such an enlightening look at R/Hr, as exemplified here:

4) You don't fall in love with strangers unless you're from India or something. Didn't it seem strange at all to anyone? It was like book 1: I don't know you, book 2: your Ron's sister, book 3: Ron's sister, book 4: I saw you at the Yule Ball with Neville, book 5: you started talking to me, book 6: BAM! I LOVE YOU! ...No offense but that's totally weird. (Don't worry, somebody actually called her on that.)

It's just an bottomless well of splooge, stupidity, and pitiful amusement after that.

Highlights include [info]kate_mc banning anonymous comments after a mouse points out that JKR said it was R/HR in a linked interview. And another thread where [info]kate_mc proves her complete inability to comprehend sarcasm.

Anonymous
Just the thought of Ron and Hermione together makes me want to be sick. There's nothing I hate more than starting to read a fanfic and finding a casual mention of Ron and Hermione snogging. I hate the way the sneak up on you like that! These bloody Herons should warn people! It's disgusting.

[info]a_fallen_girl
The thing I hate the most about R/Hr shippers is their "canon evidence" which, in all actuality, is pure opinion/fan speculation. >_< I'm all for reading between the lines, but they just take it to a whole new (annoying) extreme.

(THE IRONY. BY DUMBLEDORE'S BEARD, THE IRONY.)

Anonymous
First I hate that they call themselves the GOOD ship. It's so disdainful... "We're the good ship. All other ships are wrong!!" Well, if they're the "Good" ship, H/Hr is the "RIGHT" ship!!!

[info]sraighii
The obvious starting place, R/Hr.
To quote my favorite movie, Slap Shot: "My allergies to these fucking fans, make me sick want to puke!"

Jesus, just SHUT UP! I mean how hard is it to let us get a bloody point in before you start yelling at us because we don't agree with you? Yeah, I don't ship your stupid, pointless, idiotic ship because it's a pointless fucking RED HERRING! So you "believe in trees". Congratulations, go look outside, I'm sure there's one there. Go hug it even, because you're still an idiot. I mean, jeez, so you've got Ron being a jealous bloody prat in front of the person he's supposedly madly in love with and in front of other people, so the general idea is that not only is he "second to Harry Potter" but now he's "The great annoying prat who's STILL second to Harry Potter". My God! So you've supposedly got "confirmation" from "J.K. Rowling herself". Well, that's nice. It's good to know you're an inside, close, personal friend to her, and that she's all of a sudden had the largest fucking brain cramp in history to tell you anything. esus, these people need to be taken to a bloody psychiatric ward or something. The Yule Brawl is not "sexual tension" dammit! It's "I'm going to rip your bloody head off in a second if you don't get away from me" tension. LEARN THE DIFFERENCE!!! Argh! Well, I could continue on these idiots, but let us continue to some shippers who I loathe almost as much as R/Hr shippers, shall we?

(Actually, I think most people think R/Hr because, y'know, Rowling stated it as such in an interview. But, y'know, logic.)

[info]h_hrlova
The H/G and R/Hr are the pure definitions of the shippers that support them. Shallow, fickle, lustful, mindless, gregarious, vapid, selfish types..
Relationships say a lot about somebody's personality, I hope these types don't screw the world over with their love-hate= perfect little relationship. Watch the divorces and the lawsuits increase tenfold. H/Hr will stand the test of time...

Anonymouse
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I HATE HERON AND H/G SO MUCH!!!!
they always ignore cannon and invent moment which are out of the book like when ron and hermione became prefect they said during the year they became BF-GF
it'ssssssss so pissingggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!
I think all of them expirieced bad childhood or something -bickering type its so fucking rare and unused in real life and if it happend it happen in the age of 5-10 years old not 15!!!
plus they are best friend nor enemies they see each other everyday they dont need any reason to bicker over lack of attention so screw you all herons shitheads!#!@%#@^$#@%@

I swear, I did not go into this fandom knowing it was this desperate for an e-lay.

Update: Deleted. But some of our members were nice enough to save a partial copy.

Also, [info]kate_mc has also decided to close the Rant Room 4EVA, oh noes!!1one.

...because if they had an uncomfortable hippogryff ride, you know, that would be different.

God, why won't these people just shut up? They fill me with despair. They're weebles. You nuke them with canon, and they don't fall down.

Watch the divorces and the lawsuits increase tenfold.

So not only is JKR responsible for forced abortions in China, but she'll will also be responsible for increasing the divorce rate?

Shallow, fickle, lustful, mindless, gregarious, vapid, selfish types

Since when is being gregarious or lustful a bad thing?

I have passed so far beyond the 'stupid people make me laugh' stage and into the 'please, for the love of god, make the stupid stop!' stage that it's not even funny. Well, I suppose it would be funny to anyone who's not me, because schadenfreude and all that. So: OUCH!

Only slightly on topic, but Khaled Hosseini - the author of The Kite Runner - proposed to his now wife after knowing her for only about a half an hour, if I'm remember correctly. He's not from India.

Our reasons for disliking slash and ships w/ teenagers and old people:

1) It's sort of really gross.
2) It isn't canon.

Okay, I know she was being Harry Potter fandom specific, but those sentiments? Well... Points to icon.

Seethes.

I'm glad to know that I should get all of my sex out of the way while I'm young, 'cause when I'm old? That would be, like, gross and stuff.

I think I speak for all of the paper clutter in this room when I say:

"What the hell?"

and

"Dammit shippers. Back in your cages!"

I never I had any problems like this when I first got into the Harry Potter fandom. But that was back when the third book was the newest, and people were less... obsessed then? Or I just didn't pay attention. One or the other. Maybe both.

I love the cries of "nothing's final 'til the last page of book seven!"

Because obviously when JKR says "that's it, it's Ron/Hermione" what she really means is Harry and Hermione will be shagging like bunnies once I kill off Ron two pages into the seventh book.

This "India or something" thing... didn't this pop up a while ago? Is it the same post? I'm too lazy to go find the previous reference.

I think they're under the impression that the more they scream and wank on LJ, then the shipping gods will answer their prayers and deliever H/Hr unto them. Or something.

Maybe they'll sacrifice a goat too. Or a heron.

I've never read the books, and when I tried to watch the first movie, I about died of absolute boredom.

So why can't I get enough of these damn wanks? Everytime I see an HP shipper wank, I drool a little bit and frantically click the mouse, afraid of missing a single second or comment.

Whta's wrong with me?

plumerri: I hate The Good Ship. What's this about the Good Ship? Everyone in the fandom knows that Hermione doesn't like Ron AT ALL!

All I can think of when I read that is Ron and Hermione in sailor gear standing on a little boat with "The Good Ship" written across the side of the boat.

So if that's the Good Ship, what's the Bad Ship? H/Hr, maybe? Does that make Harry/Ron the Mediocre Ship?

Now I'm dead from all that capslock and ! abuse.

But shipping wank is always entertaining, like an old perennial Christmas movie that's shown every year. You say, "Oh, I'm not watching it again, I know it frame by frame and word by word" but end up watching and laughing at the (predictable) jokes yet again.

Relationships say a lot about somebody's personality, I hope these types don't screw the world over with their love-hate= perfect little relationship. Watch the divorces and the lawsuits increase tenfold. H/Hr will stand the test of time...

Dear Harmonians,

I know this may come as a shock to you, but bickering does not mean that the relationship is doomed to go down in flames. I've seen couples who bicker like mad who break up after a few weeks, and I've seen couples who bicker like mad who've been happily married for fifty-going-on-sixty years. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you have to agree with them or even like them all the time. And even the calmest, most reasonable couple will disagree sometimes - at least, they will if the relationship is healthy. Arguments between romantic partners might offend your delicate sensibilities, but I can assure you, it's perfectly normal. One might even say that it's essential.

Awwww, how sweet. The HP shippers gave us an early Christmas gift wank. I'm so underwhelmed... *sniffle*

What should we get them in return -- some nice, fresh toast, or free hippogriff rides?

I am completely aware that she said that Ron and Hermione were "it" in her TLC interview. Let's just face it. She did. BUT it doesn't change my opinion.

…the hell? The author confirmed a pairing is going to happen, but [info]kate_mc still denies that it's going to happen? That's not an opinion, that's burying your head in the sand and hoping that you find Harry and Hermione getting it on.

Our reasons for disliking Draco/Hermione are:
1) They hate each other. Reason enough.

--
In the comments feel free to leave all the reasons why you... dislike that or other ships that aren't Harry/Hermione, Draco/Ginny
So it's okay to dislike D/Hr because they hate each other, but it's not okay to dislike D/G, who also HATE EACH OTHER.

Our reasons for disliking slash and ships w/ teenagers and old people:
1) It's sort of really gross.
2) It isn't canon.

H/Hr isn't canon either! What is wrong with these people!?
