Tokyo Blue and Harajuku Bitch
Over in [info]ohnotheydidnt, [info]boomstick posts about Paris Hilton buying two new chihuahua puppies, Tokyo Blue and Harajuku Bitch. In a reply to a comment, [info]purplesex states that Harajuku Bitch is a play on words and Paris named her puppy that cause she's clever.

And away boomstick goes! The two battle it out on the issue if Paris Hiltion is clever or just an attention whore. It ends with purplesex stating that Paris was clever for leaking her sex tape to get her famous.

Purplesex is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I think Boomstick is actually quite wrong.

Paris Hilton IS remarkably untalented, and has made it obvious that she's overwhelmingly self-absorbed and primarily interested in her own fame and little else. She's not bright but she is clever... she knows how to trade on her name and her looks and her public persona. More than anything, she knows how to create an image that people are fascinated by.

Hiring a good PR agent definitely helps, but most good PR agents take on lots of clients that don't necessarily end up being ultrafamous... and Paris has notably lasted a lot longer than your average 15 seconds.

The Hilton name alone wouldn't have done it for her either... it certainly would never have raised her above celebutante status. Even when you take into account the leaked sex video... who's more famous, Paris Hilton or Abi Titmuss?

Also, I thought this interview snippet was quite telling:

I tend to think she does. I don't give her any credit for anything that she ACTUALLY does, but I give her some credit for so single-mindedly, and so relatively deftly, molding herself into the perfect image to get what she wanted.
