Someone says that they were disappointed by Brokeback Mountain and that it was stale. Wanking occurs.

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rush for a New Years party. When I get back, I will come back and provide highlights.

Wank at IMDB is like popcorn at the movies... it smells bad, but you still want it even though you know you'll feel sick later... and all it will do is make you fat >_>

I think it's because the movie is slowly being released all over the place instead of all over the place at the same time. So some people only gets to see it now, while others cant even see it yet. That's probably why there's isn't much of OMG you n00bs!!!

You know people need to get over people not liking certain movies. There is always going to be at least one person in the world who is not going to like the movie. Just move on, and get on with it. I liked the movie, but I am not going to get all wound up because of someone who I don't know on the internet didn't.

I loved the movie but I've read reviews that thought it was pretty bad or at least very flawed. It doesn't "offend" me... I didn't make the damn thing and even if I did, the entire world isn't going to get together and love it.

Some of the comments are along the lines of "well, you should read the original story". I'm sorry, but an adaptation of an original work should stand on it's own; if you need to know the original to appreciate the adaptation, the adaptation has failed.

The irony here is I know a couple people who, having read the original story first, have zero intentions of seeing the movie.

Man, I just saw this movie tonight before going clubbing. I cried so hard during the whole last half hour that I don't think I could have gone WITHOUT clubbing.

I can see where people find flaws, because I was seeing them pretty easily myself until the movie really sucked me in. Now my heart's just been too wrenched to give a fuck.

What the hell? So, what, people are not allowed to express negative/critical opinions on ANYTHING, lest they ruin it for people who liked it?

If I go to an acclaimed restaurant and don't like the food, am I not allowed to say I didn't like it, because it will ruin it for everyone who did? What's your problem? The OP expressed a calm, reasoned opinion. His opinion was of interest, just like all the other reviews of the movie posted. He was looking forward to the movie, he was disappointed--he shared that experience. YOU're the one who's taking it as some kind of attack. [katranna]

Recent antiBBM letter to the editor in the local paper (where the movie isn't playing yet, and won't be until at least Jan.6) ended "I want homosexuality banned from my world." Which, the hell you say? Who gave her the title to the whole freaking planet?

What the hell is with the fans of this movie? After running into a discussion where someone who had read the story explained why they had no intention of seeing it, and someone else basically explained to them how deciding not to do so made them intellectually inferior, I reached my pre-movie-squee irritation saturation point and made a set of moderately bitchy icons. And when a swath of people defriended me over these, can you guess what the main person complaining about them cited as the most offensive icon?

Yeah. The one that simply read, "I don't give a damn about Brokeback Mountain and I hated the story."

So... actually, no, wait: this is kind of reassuring. It means the fans of it are nuts in places other than just my personal journal.

Over at DataLounge, one poster says that he'll refuse to date anyone who doesn't like the movie:
If you liked the film and were touched by it you should never date anyone who says otherwise. The film really divides the world into people you want to know and those you don't. It will save you alot of time finding out if your date has a heart or not.

OK, so - I heard "gay cowboys" and did a happy dance, but the trailer looked boring as hell, lots of wistful staring and angsty music. And no tongue-kissing or anything.

Do they actually get freaky at all? I don't mean the characters, off-screen - I mean, the actors, onscreen, so that I can watch and enjoy. Does Jake tongue-wrestle Heath? Is there groping and rubbing and pawing?

I need to know for very, very important reasons. Mainly so that I don't waste my money going if they're just going to stare at each other and not start getting it on.
