FFXI wank with incredible staying power.

On August 25, 2004, "Mia Consalvo, an associate professor in the School of Telecommunications at Ohio University," according to her about page, posted to her blog, MemoryCard, about cheating in FFXI.

ur all morons for voke botting and causing in flation. retarded voke bots will be next to me wjhile im farming wit hme lvl 67 blm and doing aoe spells, the retarded voke bot comes and takes at least 3 of my gathered victims. pissed me off i went and grabbed like 40 gobs and warped away, came back and found his dead body. he was there for like 6 hours dead while i continued farming. that was fun but he was still retarded and i hope none of u voke bot and cause inflation or ill come kill u with my gob army!

Entitlement "you can't make millions legitmately" whiners + gilseller vigilantes + elitist "SCORPION HARNESS ONRY" gamers = wank every damn time.

Almost every forum (KI, Alla, and LJ) has been hit hard with similar wah-wah these past couple of weeks due to rampant holiday inflation and the MPK adjustments (aka the BST nerf). I'm just sort of waiting for the whole game to implode under the weight of accumulated spooge.

The game itself isn't that bad, nor is staying ahead of the economy -- as long as you're smart, have friends, and a bit of patience. The hard part is the incredibly long time it takes to do ANYTHING in game, especially leveling your first job while staying decently equipped. I've been playing the game for a year, and only recently have become "comfortable" financially.

Amusingly, a lot of the problems folks are harping on things that have been fixed in the past six months. Patches eliminated fish botting, and cut down on voke spamming, while a lot of the high-ticket items were changed to rare/ex. The result? The few drops that are still sellable are now camped 24/7 and are increasing in value exponentially. It's had the effect of bottleneck on gilsellers, making it all the more difficult for "legit" players to get high-demand drops, like O.Kotes. ... Their indignation, of course, keeps the wank fires burning.

Oy vey. FFXI, I love you, but sometimes, I want to hurt you.

City of Heroes and City of Villains are nice in that there is no phat lewt to be concerned with, just enhancements that one inserts into their powers to make them better. The very best enchancements can only be obtained by taking on a gigantic amoebaish thing in a huge team effort, and even then only in COH thus far. So naturally, people find other things to wank about, like how the devs are supposedly trying to make people stop using tankers because they're "obsolete" or COV doesn't let you be villainous enough. Such discussions never remain civil for long, and one time someone simply said "I and everyone who agrees with me are right; everyone else is wrong". 'Course, that was probably a troll.

Thousands of players, let alone millions, equals constant wank, one way or another.
