More HP wank.

Vanceone (everyone's favourite internet lawyer) is at it again, this time at Sugarquill , a R/Hr shipper site which does not allow ship debates - something which does not stop Vance.

The modly hammer is brought into play fairly quickly, but not before both sides wank a little, and the point flies over most posters' heads.

Even though I'm a R/Hr shipper myself, I stay away from Sugarquill for the above reason. Any place that doesn't allow people to express opinions if they differ from the places owner isn't worth the time of day IMHO.

See, that's one of the reasons I like the SQ. If I want to debate, I'll go to FAP or somewhere else it's allowed, as there's a lot of places for it there. However, as I have been doing lots of debating, it's really nice to come back to the SQ and browse through topics where I don't have to feel frustrated, angry, &c.

No, I can see why. I used to mod at a forum where the mods were forced to ban all pairing debate, because not only had it been utterly driven into the ground harder than a sky-diver without a parachute, but it was causing hostilities and brain death from delusional fangirls.

Really, there come times in old forums where some topics must be banned because they are done to DEATH.

I thought SQ's policy is pretty much "If you're a H/Hr, welcome and feel free to say you are H/Hr but don't try to say H/Hr is the only and true way - that'll just lead to debates and we don't want that."

There's difference between expressing a different opinion and debating it. Kind of like there's a difference between saying "I'm Christian" and saying "I'm God's chosen one, REPEL NOW OR fall into the flames of hell! It's okay! You can still turn back!".

I regretted suggesting that he get an account there to a) see if they'd ban him just from his username (because I knew they wouldn't and he said they would) and b) try posting in a nonship thread and see if people freaked out at him.

I'll respectfully disagree that R/Hr is "hard canon;" not everyone thinks so (in fact, many people think otherwise), and I think they have some rather compelling arguments.

And that, Harmonians, is what makes you delusional.

You can write fanfics with different pairings, or hate it with every fibre of your little pea-picking heart, but when something is canon, it is canon no matter what the damn hell you think. No amount of essays, whining, analyses, theories, or plain ignorance will change this fact, so would you please just fucking deal already.

I'm going to hazard a guess that a fair number of H/Hr shippers don't think this guy represents them at all. There must be sane Harmonians out there?

I feel like HBP's relationship conflicts have turned into a gigantic wank bang, with the Harmoanians at one end screaming, "Yeah, that's right, take it all, bitch!
